SLP PCV for D8?

If you are running the latest Polaris flash you will want Jim's tuning not SLP's. It will run fine just fat on top end!

Seriously considering a PCV for next season. On my 09 I am running SLP single at 3000-5500', with original 2010 update flash. Question, who's map is better or preferred, Jim's or SLP's.

I'm running SLP's with the original flash and mine is spot on. I'm at 3 to 7 thou. ft. I've got their single with the y-pipe and can also high flow, been turning 8200 r's consistantly. Clutching is SLP blue/pink with 68.5g. Heavy Hitters(Thanks Monte), Team tied 75.57.46 with red/blue

Thanks MurfDog....Mine turns 8300 +/-50 all day long with 10-66's...Ron is going to adjust my weights that I bought from him to around 67 grams or so...Will have to wait for next season to try them out...Will the PCV affect my RPM?

SLP's map works best with the original 2010 map from what they told me. And it works! I'm running your exact alt and pipe...best money I've spent on this sled. By far.

i actually have an extra brand new in the box PCV. i ordered 2 and the other guy backed out. $325 shipped.

I have SLP pipe, pcv with slp map and the sled with the 2/14 map runs flawless 68g blue pink primary stock secondary 1400mi on sled 8150-8250rpm eth wires unpluged

Thanks DD. After talking to a few more guys in town and also Snowest I will be buying a PCV for nexy season. I am sure it will work in my area but I do have a concren that any flash my need some finr tuning. What about the Auto-tune add-on? We have a humitidyt issue that affects tuneups. We had an Arctic Cat engineer here a year ago that did some custom maps for some M1000's that would otherwise not run very well at all. After that they ripped. All I want is a map that works well so I do not have to tincker. I am not on that wants to do ant tinkering when it comes to EFI tuning.!!!! Clutching I am just getting a handle on!!!

Found a shop in Vancouver that is blowing PCV's out at a great price. Problem being that they probably do not come with any MAPS. Will have to check this out this Sat when I get back fom PV Mex. How about the add on feature of the switch for trying two MAPS out at the same time? I have subcribed to Dynotech Jim. I think I can get one of his MAP's no problem , but what about getting one from SLP to try as well?

I'm sure if you call SLP, they will email you the map. I haven't tried the switch for the 2 map switchability because the thing runs spot on perfect. I am installing the auto tune and EGT's. Plug reads have turned out real well.

SLP has 2 different maps depending on whether or not you're running their head. They were pretty adimant about their testing/map works best with the first 2010 update map.

Gerrman,
Same exact boat as you, have PCV on order from the same vendor in Van. it sounds like. I had SLP e-mail me their map a couple days ago so I will send it to you.
Cheers.

Were they located on Fraser Street? Was it an in stock item or did they have to order it in for you? Thanks

Fraser street yep, you got it:face-icon-small-win
They had to bring it in but 6-10 days to me from date of order. They use Canada Post too. I'm hoping to have it for the 26th weekend so I can try it out. I too have the original flash done with the piston update (was done in Dec 09) and my sled has been working VERY good. I waffled on the PCV because it was working so well but I am now convinced there may be more benefit. The SLP map richens the mid and leans the top which is what I believe it needs.
Hopefully I get it in time and can test it next weekend and report back.

Thanks. Keep me/us posted on how it works. I am considering it as n insurance policy for the mid range.(like yours, mine works well anyways, no bog at all) There should be some benifit on the top end I hope. Better throttle responce etc.

Have noticed the same on mine, runs good in colder weather worse in warmer conditions.Put a PCV on this winter and love it, added a switch to prove to myself that it works (switched between stock and mod map) and got an extra 100 rpm's on top, about 8250 to 8300. With the warmer weather I want to come up with something that works and add that as the second map then on warm days just flip the switch.

That is what I had in mind. The second MAP option, whatever it is would be great for tuning!!!! If the PCV gives an extra 50-100RPM, I can hardly wait to try my combination out with Ron's adjusted weights. Should be able to load the engine even more. Bring on Nov 2010!!!

I have the PC111 on my 08/D8 with the SLP pipe and clutching. Mine also ran great with the stock mapping after the update, but I was worried about the super lean midrange. I went with Dynotech Jims map on my PC111 and it adds up to 25% more fuel in the midrange. Sled still rips with the PC11 installed, and the operating temps are much more stable. I would recommend a Power Commander to any one with one of these sleds.

Ordered my PCV and MAP switch/harness today. I guess I will consider this an insurance policy for the lean mid-range. Will have to wait to next season to try it out though. Hard to believe that my sledding season ended on Feb 27/2010. Three strikes for El Nino:face-icon-small-fro:face-icon-small-fro
