SLP full exhaust question

With there system do you have to do any adjustments with anything like reflashing or reprogramming the sled when this is installed?
Or do you just bolt it on and go.

Yes, after you install the kit (Pipe and can on 05 OR Y-PIPE, pipe and can for 06) You will need to take the sled to your favorite local Polaris dealer and have them reflash the ECU with the new fuel curve map.

Most dealers can do it in a few minutes and wont charge, You'll just have to check with your local dealer.

Aside from that it's good to go:beer;

You'd be better off just getting the reflash without pipe if HP is what you want, Pipe kit only looses weight, very little HP. Reflash actually takes fuel away and only produces 2-2.5 HP. Seen test live at dynotechresearch.com.
You can put a DYNOPORT or HTG full system on and without any flash get 14 true HP. There are other mfg's with good numbers also from dynotechresearch.com archives but SLP was not even close to impressive on the 900's.

How will the SLP pipe kit run without the reflash? I'm really not interested in leaning out my mixture. This would be on a 2006 755 btw.

Mind, all test were done on the 900's(866) at dynotech but Rich from dynoport saw close to equal increases from stock #'s on the 700's(755)I have friends on HCS that have done it on stock engine and like it, It got most of the 2.5 HP from the flash anyhow, so good in a area patroled for aftermarket pipes but, when you want to add a good HP producing pipe like a HTG or DYNOPORT or the Bikeman tested real nice, you need to return to stock flash or you will be too lean and burn down.

To get exact stock to finish #'s, you need to do as I and get a dynotechresearch.com membership. They have a incredable archive and live video feeds of new equipment being tested.

Gotta love the Dynotechresearch.com membership. SOOOOO much good data!

I was told the SLP pipe leans the engine out so you must use their re-flash to add fuel, to avoid severe engine damage when I had mine re-flashed for the 06 900 SLP pipe set.

Yes 250 yes a great deal.

I think the quality of the SLP pipe set is great and would be hard to beat.

Cough, cough...^^^

On two different 05 900 RMK's that we tried the reflash with a stock pipe (only because both sleds had SLP pipe damage so we used stock pipes while waithing for new pipes) the sleds had terrible runnability problems due to the mapping differences, so I wouldn't even consider an SLP reflash without installing an SLP pipe.

The SLP pipe has been proven in the mountains on the 900! And NO, I'm not affiliated with SLP in any way.

I can't call B.S. on the Dynotech #'s, but I can say that the SLP pipe setup and reflash for the '06 900 RMK are DEFINITELY worth the money. I've run this setup on my '06 for three seasons so far and the actual seat-of-the-pants difference is huge. I ran one season with the stock pipe and an aftermarket can, then did the SLP setup before season two. It ran so strong, I was pissed at myself for waiting a year before doing the SLP pipe and reflash.

So what if I can get the full system from y pipe to can SLp for 250 is it a good deal?
kerley

$250 is a good deal but reflash is gonna cost #30.

SLP used to make two types of exhaust for the 2005.

A pipe for stock exhaust can and a pipe for new SLP can.

To confuse matter more SLP made 3 cans. 2005 SLP stock pipe, SLP can for SLP exhaust and a "universal can for the 2005 / 2006 900 RMK.

I think the 2005 can has one extra spring holder on it compared to an 06.

Ok, so now we've got conflicting information on the fuel remap. Sounds like running the remap with a stock exhaust is a bad idea, and running the stock fuel map with aftermarket exhaust is also bad. But does the remap add fuel or lean it out?

according to Dynotech Jim, Rich Daley and Rob from HTG. It leans out fuel mixture. Steals fuel. I would take any one of thier words over anyones so when all 3 say the same thing, must be fact.

As a former dyno operator and director/manager, I would always take every sheet/report with a grain of salt. As for the numbers being low that SF is referring to, I believe the BSFC's were extremely rich and they were trying to run the pipe at 7,200 RPM not the 7,800 RPM that SLP recommends.

SLP all the way

If you want results, go with a SLP cold air intake, slp cluthing & gearing, & the SLP pipe & Silencer, & then have your polaris dealer re flash. My buddy tried the only going part way with just a can & my sled mad him look silly in a hill climb. Not much differnce in a drag race on the flat but on the way up a mountain about 25 percent more speed up the hill.
