Slightly Dissapointed

18 hours is where its totally out of break in you running in ethanol or non ethanol mode 8100 rpms change clutching to get that up some more what elevation are u riding in with the factory weights installed

This ^^.

Mine turned 20+ hours last weekend and is a beast now. Revving at 8300, throttle got "snappier" and track speed increased as well.

Everyone I ride with that hops on it can't believe the improvements from the Pro chassis and even the Doo riders compliment the handling and power.

Hmm Ive gearing and clutching the 3 inch tracks since they came out. my preferred ratios are 2.3-2.4 with the 7 tooths. 2.5 with 7,s is too low IMO

No, it actually works great. I have the TKI belt drive kit on mine and the owner supplied several different top gears for me to try as I thought the same thing, that it was geared too low. In the end I was surprised to find the best performance and track speeds with the stock 3" gearing. I will say that it made a BIG difference in powder climbing performance by going to a heavier rear shock spring and loosening the from track shock spring a bit. Prior to that the transfer was too much and too forceful. I rode my buddies 163-2.6 with no changes made to his rear skid, side by side with mine and his skis were coming up a lot higher, his trenched more, and mine climbed a bit faster. He since replaced his rear spring as well. These sleds really do respond to tuning of the rear suspensions.

The spring we are using is a custom spring from Carl's Cycle, the #230 which is in between the stock spring and the next heavier Polaris spring.

I've been going with the recommended clutch weights. I've ridden in Seeley Lake at 6-8,000 with the stock clutching. The first trip I was in West Yellowstone and running 10-62's for 8-10,000. The last trip in Seeley the snow was really wet when I was reading 8150 RPM's. We went to Cooke from Seeley and I never changed out the weights and it seemed to still be pulling the same RPM's at the higher elevation with the heavier weights but the snow was a lot less dense in Cooke. I thought peak HP was at 8150??

I'll have to try and make some small adjustments to the rear skid before heading out on the next trip.

How are you liking the TKI kit? Did you notice much of a difference? Is it worth the money?

I like it, easy to install and everything appears to be top notch quality. I doubt there is a payoff but I like the quicker response....and I really wanted a GOOD belt drive.

Nice write up Chris. I knew it was you from the accurate description of events that day. I am glad you switched and are happy with Axys. I love mine. It is amazing how much better it works in every way than my 13 Pro did with an X3 track on it. No comparison in my opinion. I have yet to ride with a Pro that is comparable. All I have done is venting, shock revalve, 230 lb. spring on rear track shock, KMOD 37 A Arms, Carl's clutching and Diamond S muffler. The power, ride and handling are in another world from the Pro.

others had said the pro with 36 arms handles similar to the Axy. I know that HO has 10 more HP and the big noticeable difference is the lower gearing, The pro has stupid tall gearing which killed the snap. any comment to any of this?

My comment is ride one for a day. You will be a beliver. It IS that much better. If I had a Pro, I would trade or sell it as fast as I could. They are a good sled but not in the same galaxy as the Axys. As far as I am concerned, my 11 handled better than my 13. Difference in a arms is what I think it was about but not sure.

I had 36" arms on my pro and it was nothing like my axys.
The pro still feels slow heavy and planted.

My buddy owns the pro now so i can compare easily.

^^^^ exactly

I had an 11 and a 13 also.

gearing the pro down does help with track speed at elevation. feels a bit more snappy, but not like the axys. I didn't like the feel of my pro with 36" arms, would lay over easier, but I couldn't control it on steep hills as much, although that may have been the t-motion in it also. the axys is a bit easier than the pro, but handles different, took me 300 miles to get comfortable like I was on the pro.

I ride with several pros. all say the axys is better. The pro is still a fun and great sled and several in our group still ride them. Is it worth it to sell the pro? You can buy a great used pro for $6000, not going to get a whole lot lower. so if you have the cash, go for it. If not, love the pro, it rocks.

Can't speak to the 3" track as I have a 2.6 track but I can tell you heads up the axys outdoes everything my pro did.

Short end of a long story, we had a demo axis 155 2.6 inch back before christmas. Riding it right in the same set of trees as my '13 with slp pipe, head, gear'd down, tuned clutched well. It made my pro look silly. I thought maybe my neighbor was just killing it that particular day, but no. I was on the axys for a total of about 2 minutes before I turned it up hill in the tight and nasty, I was gone. Topped out no worries on the next logging landing. I shut the sled down to hear my old sled screaming to keep up, sidehill switch backing its way up the hill..... In a total of 7 minutes I was completely sold on the new sled, so much so that I was at the dealer later that day signing on the dotted line.

I see a few questions about the gearing on the pro - mine was running the 3" so it was geared down. You could feel the difference compared to other pro's - but on the hill I guess it did not help it much after comparing it to the Axys.

Bob - hope you got out this weekend, my first one home in about 6 weeks and it was painful. I cleaned out the refrigerator and did some honey dues -

Just rode the snot out of a box stock 163 Axys 2.6 all day in awesome snow - I'm not sure exactly what OP had going on, but this thing dummies my 15 pro 163 in every way. Handling, power, traction, downhill turns, carving on flat, carving on hills - all of the above. Sidehills were already so good on the pro - that's about the only area it compares well. This thing is an absolute riot in deep snow....just a blast.

I wish the difference wasn't so pronounced to be honest - I was hoping to keep the pro another year...but I don't know if I can now. Also had one there with the slp pipe - that runs very very nice and is a super clean package that makes all the right noises.

I don't care if you re gear, or 3", or sprinkle holy water on a pro - it will not feel and ride like this thing. I wish it did, cause I have one I paid good money for lol

A fella in our group bought an axys 163x2.6" this year and after reading ya'lls comments he must have got a dud. It has not been near as impressive as it sounds like it should be. the guy riding it isn't the best rider, so I won't comment on the technical riding aspect and the frequent stucks it has in those conditions as the outcome here would most likely be different with a more capable rider. But as far as the power goes we also have a '15 td pro 163 in our group and the pro and my '14 proclimb 153" will pretty much spank the axys in straight up head to head climbing or drag racing. The pro and my cat are both stock with cans and run pretty much dead even. I have limited time on either the pro or axys, but can't say I've noticed much difference between the two the little I've rode them. To me the pro actually felt more stable and predictable. not sure what the deal is with the axys, but it sounds like it should be much more impressive. it has bout 350 miles on it
