Sledding on a holiday

Ok, guys, with the avy death on Sunday up above Farmington this thought once more crosses my mind so I'm sharing it with you.

I hear stories of people losing their lives on holidays and think about how that must be for family left behind to think that "dad died on Christmas" or whatever each year. So a couple of years ago I stopped riding on holiday days... they actual day. No, I don't plan on dying, but I just don't want to have my family remember what should be a nice, happy holiday of some sort as the day I died if something bad did happen.

Take it for what it's worth, but you all might want to think about it too. I had a friend growing up who's dad was killed on Thanksgiving day. He hated Thanksgiving every year after that.

These days I've just decided that I'll spend the holiday day with the family and ride a different day.

Good to see you again on Saturday Dan.... CLASSIC move loading the dragon on the trailer!!! :face-icon-small-hap :face-icon-small-con

I don't ride on the holiday either.... mostly because my wife tells me I can't ! LOL :face-icon-small-sho I do hear and for the most part agree with what you are saying...

Yea, classic is one way to describe it... at least it didn't break anything. Usually (always) those bedliners grab the skis just fine... maybe I was going a bit too fast.

You riding Wed? Some of us are talking about going that day.

I agree 100% Dan. Not to say I couldn't have died yesterday while driving to the Red Box but it would have seemed less selfish if I had.

I was in an Avalanche on my wife's B-Day in 08 and thought how bad it would have been for her and the kids if that was my last.

Dude, are you suicidal? You went sledding on your wife's birthday?? I don't think I could do that for fear of castration and/or being banned from sexy time. Of all the days in the year that I take advantage of my wife to go riding, that would be the ONE day that I wouldn't....and maybe our anniversary. Any other day of the year.....heck ya, game on!:face-icon-small-hap

The fact that you made a 27ft enclosed trailer with 3 sleds in it move and still didnt break something on that dragon is impressive!!!

Wish I could take wednesday off .... But I can't burn a day to ride right now.... hopefully it is still good on Friday?

Do you not know GP?? She was probably the one that wanted to go ride for his birthday and drug him along.......:face-icon-small-win

Was actually riding with the owner of the company I work for and one of our clients. The way I saw it was whether I'm at work or on the mountain is still away from home and would return at the same time (was late though:face-icon-small-sho).

BTW: she rode on her B-Day this year without me. Even Steven I reckon.

Good thought, I broke my hip riding last year and spent my wifes b-day in the hospital recovering from surgery.

You scared.... :peep:

HUH .... didn't see you this past Friday... You must have been the one in the corner peeing yourself!!! :boink:

You didn't call:fencing:......... Dan, I agree, would hate to have a holiday or event mark my days end. my wife actually said i could ride sunday, but i elected to stay home. It always crosses my mind when i go out for a quik ride before familly arrives at my house, and think "what if I don't arrive?" Good thought Dan to put it on everyones mind...:beer;
