I pretty much agree with everything mafesto is telling you. Marginal in the best conditions, trouble in the worst conditions...icy roads...wind, etc. Not sure what kind of trlr your thinking about towing but you might want to think about trading into something like a FLOE if you want both a sled deck and trailer. Floes are very light weight and already have a 5'+ tongue. Just a thought?

Had a buddy try an extend-a-hitch with the chains triangle setup to tow a horse trlr with a 10' camper on a dodge 1ton with air bags. Got it all set up, drove it about a mile...first and last time...then never again.

I have seen guys that have extended the trailer tounge on there enclosed trailers and that seemed to work great.

I have driven in icey,windy,white outs,ect. throw some chains on the rig and trailor and take it slow,never had an issue, but sum people do? love having the enclosed trailor to hang out in an have a place wrench in bad weather,well worth it!!my 2cents,

I extended the tongue of my trailer 4 ft. And it works great. Used to use it with a sled deck all the time, had plenty of room to jack knife the truck/trailer to load sleds on the sleddeck and it worked great. Extending the trailer tongue actually made it tow a lot better.

Here's the right way to do it! This is the "Ultimate Tow Rig" project that will be featured in Mountain Mod Mania 9. Picked up the new 2011 Mega at Larry Miller in SLC and the first thing I did was take it to Precision Body Line, the guys with www.longbedmytruck.com in North Salt Lake and had them put a real bed on the ultimate truck! You can only get a 6' bed on MegaCabs and these guys cut and lengthen the frame and install an 8' bed, now this is a TRUCK!

These guys are also avid snowmobilers, met them at the Fairview Shoot Out last year!

You can't get a longbed mega cab. They don't exist.

the original Mega Cab came with the 160.5" wheel base. Now it is 180.5 after the stretch. About 7 inches longer than the Ford Super Duty, but turning radius is WAY better. Makes towing a dream.

I know a guy that has a 4 door extra cab chevy from canada, thats the crew cab with the extra space and the window behind the 2 back doors. it's cool but it is a short bed.
