sled or snowbike?

I can tell you this.... I have have had fun on both for me the hang up is this.... I can't afford to have a snowmobile , a separate snowbike, and a dirt bike.... Where I live I like taking trips in the winter to the desert and I am too lazy to convert the bike 5 times during the winter for those trips... Now I can snowmobile out from my house also.... I is about a 3 to 5 mile road ride and for me the snowmobile is much more pleasant to make it to the backcountry.... Again I agree with the others if you can have both that is the sweet spot.

snowbikes are good for weenies who cant push sleds and highmarking each other in the bowls got boring ;)

just kidding!!!

until you have ridden both, dont make up your mind. I rode bikes a few times last winter and had fun and enjoyed being able to sidehill into oblivian, but i found it was almost TOO easy and enjoy riding sleds more so because of that.

Had one on 450.

Wow guess there is people like u on every forum

I might have been a little harsh. Funny I was thinking the same about you, but I wouldn't get personal on a forum. Its bad taste no matter how ya slice it.
Its quite often I see guys talking out there arse on forums with no real experience about what the heck they are talking about, based on your negative and seemingly inexperienced comments and I put you in that category. If I was wrong then I apologize.

I think the fun factor for snobikes has a lot to do with the type of terrain that's available to you. For instance where I ride in N. Idaho (probably applies to most of the pacific northwest) we have a lot of steep heavily treed terrain that is not very sled friendly regardless of your skill level. A snobike gives you the freedom to ride these area's that you would have never rode with a sled and the sky is the limit with these kits, they will go anywhere the snow will stick.

I came from a sled to a snowbike and had both for two years before I finally sold the sled because I didn't ride it anymore.

I rode sleds as a kid. Left for a long time and came back recently on a snow bike. Last winter a buddy brought out an M800 and I tried it out. After about 10 mins I couldn't wait to get back on my bike. I'll never go back to sleds - I don't see any reason to. Keep in mind, I'm also the type of guy that prefers deep powder glade skiing over the downhill or terrain park. The other thing no one mentioned is that getting a snow bike unstuck is far less work (and happens less I believe) and means you can spend more time riding and less time digging and sweating. The downside is that some icy trails can be downright scary. Oh and one last thing, it's much easier to pick your bike back up (since it falls beside you and stays there) from a failed high mark than chasing your sled back down the slope after its rolled about 500 ft or so.
