Sled extraction from Mt Baker

If I had the time and my life wasn't soo crazy right now I would have bought it and built it.

Back in Seattle. Casts off. Removable boots installed. PT is starting next week. Ankles are almost completely locked up.. If you listen next week you will be able to hear me yelling in pain. Weight bearing date is Aug 29!

Rock on!

Here is the post surgery pictures.

It should be noted that this occurred while heading up the moutain. This was not a "hey watch this" wreck. We were just heading up the moutain to ride and I made a wrong choice on the route I took.

Be safe out there and be prepared for things like this to happen. Have your life and affairs in order to deal with this. I am looking at 6 months min in a wheel chair and extensive medical bills. However I have prepared for events like this in my life and I won't have to worry about anything except recovery.

Stay safe.

Omg I bet that itches like a bitch!!

Kickass,

I can tell you from personal experience, as I'm sure many others on here could as well, that PT can be frustrating, painful alot of the time, and slow going. But patience is your best friend right now. If you are like me it's probably being severely tested at this point! I've had two experiences with PT one an ankle injury years ago, the other a hand issue a few years back. The first time I didn't "do the whole deal" and paid for it with another surgery a few years ago, and and some permanent lingering issues. The last time I did the whole routine I was told to do. A much better result!

Hang in there, work hard and you'll be back out there before you know it! Best of luck to you!

holly cow!! you have been through a ruff ordeal!! I hope you keep up the recovery, and get back to where you want to be.

I must have missed this on the forum, and Im sure youve told it a hundred times, but what happened? I don't need the full meal deal by any means...

I can give you the little bit that lifekicksass gave me.

He came into Schriebers meadow & instead of following the trail with knee deep moguls decided to go through the trees. He was just playing around in the trees heading towards the Salad Bowl. Not knowingly he ventured too far to the NOW open creek! Went up & over a rise couldn't stop the sled before the open creek.

I think the pics on this thread can speak of how the rest of it went.

He put weight on his ankles for the first time last week. Guess it was rather painful and will continue to be for a while. I check in with Brent from time to time w/ words of encouragement. Got the new Volume 8 DVD signed by the riders that were at the premier in Spokane this last weekend. Will be sending it to him so he can heal faster :)

(signatures are kinda hard to see in the low light)

WOW! I feel for you Bro! Just read this thread and can relate to what you are going through - to a degree. I dislocated and broke my left ankle (both bones) in Feb of this year in an unfortunate encounter with a creek in a meadow about 20 miles from the parking lot. So, $20,000, 12 screws and a plate later i am back to about 80 to 90%. Had great buddies that helped get my sled out too. The road to recovery is long and painful, but definitely doable. I hope you are back to 100% by the time the snow flies!! :) I know you have tons of people you can rely on and great DRs and PTs to keep you on track, but if you need anything, just PM me. I will help in any way i can.

Good Luck!!

ROKRIG is the man! Good seeing you at the Monroe off road event. Thanks for everything you and the other guys have done for me.

Well I am upright and walking......However I look like a weeable wooble...But I will taking walking however bad it looks. I go to PT three times a week. Walking is getting better and better daily.

Timbre....$20K !?!?!?!? I think my bills are approaching $150K...:face-icon-small-sho thank goddness for insurance. Thanks for the info and getting better! If I can get 80%-90% I will be thankful. I'm ready to ride. Dr. says Feb or March it may be doable. I look at riding as good PT. :face-icon-small-hap

Thanks again everyone for all the help and wishes.
