im building a sled deck and just curious what size and thickness of metal you guys are using?

I would not use thicker than 1/8. U can get away with .065 for alot of it and .125 for the main frame.
If u go with 3/16 it will be 1,000 lbs.

A lot depends on your build design? I run my stringers 24 on center as the plywood decking itself is part of the support structure. I also run 5" flat turned on edge for the sides. That I run 3/16 ths, the rest is 1/8 th.

We did 1.5 square 14 gauge and I don't think I would do it any differently. Lots of people overbuild the steel ones in my opinion

Text me at 651-955-7688 and I can send you a few pics if youd like. I think mine is made pretty well, did a 9ft ramp instead of 8'

This is what I did. 1/8" on the base and cross members and .065 for the rest. 9' ramp is also made from .065.

Just for reference does anyone have the size of metal used and total weight of a "professional" built deck.

.120 for the entire deck is just over kill. I used .120 wall 2x2" for the main frame (outer edges) than the rest is 1X2" .065. Without wood 2 people can easily pick it up in a truck.

I have been searching for this info as well. Understanding that this answer is very dependent upon the build, but I am seriously trying to work through the aluminum -vs- steel debate. I don't need exacts but a ballpark would be nice, thanks!
