SKS weight

This may be a stupid question but why does the SKS have a chain case and not a belt drive? In what circumstances would the chain case be the better choice?? I just find it strange the sled comes with a 2.4 inch lug track and a chaincase while the pro rmk has a 2.6 and belt drive..

Chaincase less prone to failure with power on landings vs stock Polaris quick drive. Chaincase has welded steel driveshaft.

Both our 3" Pro's have chaincase also... A little more durable.

The SKS is built for durability/ reliability.

And the Pro is not?

I guess I understand what you are saying. Pro Rmk is a strictly deep snow tree rider and if you do anything else you will have to accept the consequences type of deal..

Belt drive is not something I'd rush out and do to a 415lb snowmobile anyways.. I'd rather the peace of mind.

Cool, I think I'll be ordering an SKS.

for me piece of mind is knowing if I blow a drive belt out in BFE, I can grab my spare, install it, and be back riding in 15 minutes. If I blew a chain, it would be a long ordeal to get out.

I think you'll have the best of both worlds. Steel driveshaft- I still don't like the aluminum one- and the TKI belt drive that has proven to be pretty stout.

I did break a chaincase on a ProRide Pro once-- luckily didn't break the gears but just the case itself. Didn't even notice until we got back to the place we were staying and I happened to notice the chaincase was cracked and all oil was gone. Pretty sure I know when I smacked it and we rode another 30+ miles after. Same season a buddy roasted four or five QD belts. He is on a SKS with a sidekick turbo this year.
