I was riding with a big group in our favorite back country spot a couple of weeks ago. The only way out is a steep 1000 vertical foot climb or out a nasty road that blows in for about 200 yards. We had a couple of newbs with us so we figured we were going to have to shovel the road out.
I was first in line and passed a couple of skiiers. I waved at them and they just stood there and stared at me. As I was fuming and contemplating going back and pushing them into the snow, my buddy called on the radio. He was the last in a long line and the only one they waved to. They had no idea where they were, only that their friend dropped them off on the ridge on a snowombile and said he would pick them up. They had not seen him all day, and I didn't see any other tracks. So as everyone gets turned around to go help them, I have an idea and continue on to the blown section of the road. Here is a guy on a touring/utility sled just digging his way to the end of the blown section of road. I almost fell off my sled I was laughing so hard. Keep in mind that this is an area that I have seen experienced riders have problems getting out of, and this guy just dug his way in on a utility sled! I helped pull him accross the last fifty feet and he didn't even say thank you hahahaha!
Moral to the story is don't push down the skiiers they might provide useful even if they don't mean to.
