skidoo xp 08 -09

clutching is a little better. clutch kit in the 08 would be better then stock 09.
No way I would spend the extra money to get a 09. By time you figure all the money you would lose (price difference, registration, taxes, etc..) you would be way better off to do some mods to the 08.
Get a clutch kit, vents, and two wheel kit. Then spend all the extra on whatever else you want.
I kept my 08 summit everest and did some mods.
xxx mods vent kit, x model low windshield, smitty two wheel kit, super Q can, geard it, quick clickers, and DJ clutch kit last year.
slp full exhaust and hps can, x model shocks, slp head, and holz gas rack and gas can this year.
Probably keep it next year too and maybee put a big bore on it.
It gets expensive and you lose alot of money buying the latest greatest sled and modifying it every year.

btw only differences 08-09 is the
intake (can put 09 intake cover on 08 for $40).
clutching. aftermarket clutch kit in 08 is better then stock 09 clutching
belt adjuster. Can get the 09 belt adjuster for $30-$40. Alot of 09's came from the factory with the 08 belt adjuster still on them.
No hp, weight or any other differences other then colors.

there is no recoil problem in 09, guys put aftermarket cans on without heat tape on recoil housing ,the stock can has insulation ,this is not a brp problem even tho some dealers have warrantied it.

So out of interest, why didn't or don't the 08's have problems with cans?

Recoil issue

I own a 08 summit XP. I have gone through three recoils so far and carry a spare now. There is an issue with them and they have not yet fixed it with the 09's. They have all been warrantied so far. The retaining clip is popping off and the pawl is coming off the shaft. There was a guy on here saying something like putting a bolt through the housing with an oversized O-ring. I did that and so far so good. I have never had an issue with melting plastic though. Just another lame design by the BRP crew. Got to love them...

I just bought a new 09 summit x and the first ride the recoil malfunctioned, had to start it using the clutch....i take that as a problem. Brand new...NO CAN...completely stock.

Dont hate but.......

I had a 08 154 rev last year, and was really disapointed with all the problems I was having. I was looking to buy a 09 rev, but a buddy talked me out of the rev and into a cat.....My pal has a 09 m8 turbo and its crazzy. Cant really turbo the revs proper compared to the E.F.I cats.I bought a 09 m1000 and enjoy the ride alot more and the power.....Sorry ski dooers, dont hate, just beeing honest...

Recoil issues

I have a 09 XP and put a billet pull handle on it. After my first ride the knot broke so I had to pull the recoil out, and noticed Ski-doo is still using the same recoil set up as my old 98 670, and 01 800. I thought by now they would of made a better recoil set up. I had to replace the recoil on the 670 about 10 times, hopefully this isn't the same with the xp.
