Volcano...good eye on the Klim jacket. Got them for both kids and hope they don't outgrow them for 2 seasons.

They are definitely digging their sleds. The only performance mods would be the deeper lug track and upgraded skis, so about $800. The rest of the work is just cosmetic to make them look better than factory and custom. I think I have less than $400 into everything else on the sled (bumper, windshield, graphics, handguards, tunnel bag, axle kit). I also sold the stock tracks and some miscellaneous stuff at our local snow show to offset some of the expenses.

Would have been even better if you could have hid it form the kids until Xmas!

Keep the kids separated and dont forget to install the anti tree magnets.
My boys have already played a little demo derby and done some logging with theirs!
So far nothing that has required a truck, chain and deadman anchor to straighten out like my first sled did a couple times!

I know that this is the best the sleds will ever look. I just pray they don't wreck them too soon.

I cringe thinking of all the money I spent fixing my oldest son's toys. Now that I think of it, most of the issues he had were engine related, not crashes. (I said most). 1 vehicle engine (ingested water, long story) and 2 sled seizures. Here is a picture of my oldest son crashing into a tree in McCall, ID. He bailed long before the tree hit. The sled was actually fine, but hit another smaller tree later in the day and ended up seizing the motor by the end of the day, 17 miles from the truck. We rescued it the next day and sold it.

These work great in trees I had a 550 and and still have the one with the 800 installed,around 450lbs with the 800 and all the cooling.

Got both sleds out for 2 rides. They worked very well. The tracks hooked up great and didn't trench, they just tractor everywhere. I'll post some video soon, but here are some pics.

We dropped down a ridgeline cut across that became very steep and turned into a beaver slide through the trees. I was in the lead and when I finally was able to stop, I turned around and saw my sons sled flying through the air and hit a tree...luckily without him on it. He bailed off and landed safely clear of the sled. My daughter and wife were able to ride it out. No damage to any equipment and we all had a good laugh as I cut down the tree to free the sled.

We also made it to Lunchbox Lookout Tower at 6400ft, in the Trestle Creek riding area east of Sandpoint. My son was lead dog for the last mile and took us all the way to the lookout.

My wife zigged instead of zagged on a boondocking climb and ended up putting her sled completely on its' lid. Thank god she's tough, It would've taken me a while to get it out myself without her help. Oh yeah, I got it all on video.

Finally got some video posted of the Freestyles. This was taken near Georgetown Lake Montana. The sleds will tractor everywhere and the kids stay comfortable on them all day.

I just bought two Freestyles, I was only really looking for one but the seller really gave me some incentive to buy them both. My son will be eight by next winter but when he sits on the sled he still looks pretty small by comparison.
I think I'll put on a 1.5" lug track on the one sled I'll keep for him. Can anyone confirm that it doesn't require different drivers, there's enough clearance with the stock drivers?

There is plenty of clearance with the stock drivers for a 1 1/2" lug track. I think 1 3/4" will work for sure...I'd have to measure again. I remember there was way more room than I had figured when I built the freestyles last year.

I haven't spent much time going over them yet, however it seems like on one of them the skis don't appear to line up evenly. One ski looks like it sits about 2" farther forward than the other ski. On the other sled they initially look to line up even. Nothing appears to be bent on the bottom side so I'm not sure what's up with that but I'm pretty sure it's not right.

Heard bulkheads were pretty weak on these...

I've really looked over them close and can't see anything funny or sign of damage. I suspect that one of the a arms is bent back slightly making the skis lineup differently. Visually the arm looks untouched though.

Sounds like the nun is bent...is the shock touching or close to touching the a-arm as compared to the other side?

Not that I can tell. I may hook up a tow strap to each end of the sled and pull them into alignment. They're only about 1.5" out as far as I can tell.

They really are tuff to come by. Last spring a found one in the New England area that looked like new. The seller was very reluctant to ship and I was seriously considering taking the family on a trip to pick it up.
Check KSL, E-bay and Craig's list often. When one does show up it'll go quick.
