Ski Doo Primary ??

I've never owned a skidoo. I've owned a Polaris with a Cat D.D. and secondary.

The Primary has me wondering... I think the secondary clutch's are similar...??

I understand that Clickers change RPM. Higher the clicker # the higher the RPM.

What does changing the clicker do to the clutch?

I think that the ramps will change the RPM Range up or down? Then change the clickers within that range.... Depending on Secondary Helix Angle and spring tension....

What do Pin Weights Do? Are they at all like Primary centrifical fly weights on the P-80 governing RPM but adjustable with the different set screws?

Could somebody set me straight here?

Your on the right track with the clickers lifting or lowering one end of the ramp for fine tuning.

Goto mxzx-revzone.com excellent descriptions & references

Thanks for the link. I found this article http://www.mxzx-revzone.com/article/tuning-laws-118.asp very usefull.

I watched his video's on youtube.... Would of been nice if he would of changed out the ramps, I would of liked to see that.... I guess they are up in the govenor. Pins, Pinweights, and springs don't look like a major job to change out..... Well at home but on the hill.... I see why they have clickers....

Are the ramps hard to change? I never got a good look at them other than in the description of how they work?

I heard that the secondary is not as simple as they used to be to remove..... I heard you have to take out the whole jackshaft on the 2009's which would entail getting into the chaincase....??? Is this really true?? I thought you would just undo the bolt that holds the secondary to the jackshaft.... Bob's your Uncle....??

Sorry for all the questions I just want a good understanding of what I might get into if I buy a Doo.....

The secondary isn't to difficult. I bought the skidoo tool ($29)to hold the gear in place then remove the bolt holding the bearing in place on the clutch side and it pulls right out. I used the secondary tool($79) to make it simple to get to helix and spring. You also need a good torx bit( I stripped mine vice grips worked:)) to remove torx bolts. The first time took about 75 minutes start to finish and will probably be a 15 minute job next time. It is awkward to work with the clutch as the shaft is still attacked.

Good Luck

Use some heat (propane torch) to heat the torx bolts. When reinstalling use hex head bolts, then next time you want to change the spring/helix you can reach the bolts with a ratchet box end wrench. No jackshaft removal.
