ski-doo gearing

Is there some reson they are geared lower. 19/45 on my 08 XP. 21 stock, I changed clutching this year but I think I may go back up to 20/45.

I rode poos for years and a good combo it 19/42, but I guess that is with 9 tooth drivers, the new drivers on the XP are bigger than that correct? Seems like doos are typically geared lower though....any reason??

skidoos final drive ratio is something like .82:1 which they claim is overdrive where other brands are 1:1. People gear lower to utilize this and get full shift out.

Your 2.86p 8t drivers are .2 circumference wise bigger than 2.52p 9t drivers.

they geared them down to address the clutching/belts problems they were having, Once you get get clutching figured out, gearing back up is not a problem anymore. I geared back up once I put the Dj kit in, it rocks now

Nice.. I was wondering on what gearing setup to install on my 154 with the DJ kit.. can't wait to ride it without the fear of full throttle like last year.. guess i'll leave the 21/45 instead of putting in my 19..

Hey Triple Threat :D

I posted this in another thread....

In all the XP's (13) we geared or rode with last year, the 154's that were geared 20/45 were NEVER outrun by 154's geared 19/45 or 21/45, whether they had motor mods or not ;)

The 20 geared 154's just werks best.
