SilverLake Manufacturing Sled Bed build and install with pictures.

I think I'm going to see about sealing off the ramp compartment. LOTS of road grime from the open frame of the deck.

Minor deal and it's just a customization that I may opt to do

I think I can slide a thin sheet of alum into the ramp compartment. Don't even know if it needs to be 3/16' thick.

im sure .080" would be more than sufficient.

Love the deck/bed. i picked up a f450 with the intent of building something similar to yours. trying to get the sides figured out in my head before i move forward. it'll mostly be used for hauling rzrs as im spoiled getting dressed to sled in a warm trailer :) haha

Scott, I have a 1/4" piece of plywood in where the ramp goes and have put foam tape on the door. Still too much grime in there. I am thinking of somehow hanging a piece of heavy canvas on the flatdeck between the cab and the deck.

I still want to get some pictures up but every time I have time my truck is dirty. I will get some up one of these days.

The frame is basically open between the cross members of the deck and grime will dump right over into the ramp.
I'm thinking a big rubber sheet that basically creates a full length barrier along the frame above the wheel wells.

Flat beds

I've had flat beds for 20yrs . A couple ideas for you guys.
1. Most if the grime and dirt that gets blasted around under
The deck comes from the rear wheel(s) .
2. Hanging a mid length stiff plastic or rubber flap
In front of the rear wheel will stop about half of your
Grime and protect your storage boxes as it will only
Take a yr or so to sand blast your boxes .
3. Front flares and full length solid running boards
Will take care off another 25% of the grime getting blasted
Backwards . The other 25% is just the way it is lol.

I've always done steel decks ,but after looking at these
I would definitely consider getting one on the next
truck .

Scott , very nice set up ,now let's get some darn snow and ride :face-icon-small-coo

I happened to see a truck with flaps in front of the rear tires this morning on the way to a ride.
Smart idea. Just need to put a piece up above the wheel to close off the ramp compartment.
The shorter flaps that came with the truck might be perfect. (see the pics from the end of August when I picked it up)

My front tires are already wide anyway, so I've got fender flares that are waiting to come back from color matching any day. I expect to get them on this week.

Great advice. Thank you.

Thought I would bring this back up and see how every one is still liking there flat beds. looking to sell my BOSS sled deck and get one of these for my 06 GMC diesel dually. Thanks Fred

In fourth season with this flatbed.
It's holding up well. I never did install the glides. It shows a little bit but it's not too bad at all actually.

Still love it!

I "won" a rhino line at a benefit auction, so I'll be doing that sometime soon.

I'm sure that the skis won't slide well on the lining, so I'll probably end up installing the glides on top of the Rhino-lining. The guides are all notches, cut out, fitted and ready to install. Just gotta git er done.

Rhino is a step down from unlined in my opinion. I’d never do it again. Carbides cut it up and then it just starts to peel. LineX or similar is far better, assuming they prep-it properly.

Ok, let me back up a step.
I have the gift certificate to the business. I don't know what brand of liner this company uses.

Second, as I said, I'll probably put the guides on.... I've already got them notched and fitted.
