Looking for info on the Sierra Madre's. Looking to stop there and check it out, on the way out to alpine, and ride for one day. Can anyone recomend a cheap motel in the area. Not looking for anything special. Just passing through, and want to break up the 26 hour drive. Info seems limited on Encampment. Thanks for any help!!
Sierra Madre's Encampment??

I was out there for the first time at the end of december and had a great time. My brother is out there right now and he said they just got dumped on and they are getting burried everywhere. That being said you don't have very many options available in encampment. My brother and the group he is staying with rented a house in town for the week. Last trip we stayed at the beartrap which is in riverside about 2 miles from encampent. The bar and restauraunt were pretty good but the cabins are pretty bad. That is the reason for renting the house this trip. That all being said i would say your best bet is to stay the night in saratoga there is a motel there and it is about a 20 min drive to encampment and another 10 minutes from there to unload your sled. This is my advice but like i said this was my first time there so some locals will probably be able to shine a litte more light on this subject.
