SHR860 vs RK860

I don't agree with anyone saying the BB is the reason for making power. I beleive guys like APP whom claim 167 hp thats realistic. I have stayed quiet on RKT because he posted what was asked and has been helpful. BJ maybe helpful but IMO doesn't tell the whole story. Never seen a BB yet in this area that runs or can be held on. There are a few that are ok for short bursts race em 2000' and the start to knock.
you say [start to knock] what do you feel is causing this knocking you speak of.

Too much compresion, incorrect combustion chamber design, too much timing, the pistons they use, Pipe and or Y pipe. Those are my suggestions as to why my opinion is too much compression trying to make claimed hp on pump gas.

i saw an rkt 860 done by specialty that was blowing everyone out of the water in a fresh snow long steep climb. my 800 HO piped with nitrous that is extremely well dialed in could not touch the marks he was making.

Turbo Jamie you say all the builders are lying that say 175-185 hp so please answer my question why pick on one guy for lying when you say there all lying, rkt came thru with dyno charts and then you go and disrespect him after doing what you asked for ,by saying he's lying, see that's rude ,it doesn't matter if you see BJ dyno charts your minds made up ,he's actually being polite by not confusing you with the facts.Once again could you please help me out like the builders ,and post for free what pistons you are refering to? thanks

You need to run the right fuel for the mods. That goes for ANY engine....stock or otherwise. If a guy doesn't know this, he should NOT be playing with mods.
In my case, it's a Cat piston (is this bad?) A safe 13.5 comp ratio for my altitude, only 1 additional degree of timing and stock timing curve.....stock pipe. Please explain how this will cause detonation or any other problems, especially considering the Doo has a DETONATION SENSOR that retards the timing. I'm confused.

What you probably confuse is low elevation sea level vs high elevation, we have much more air down here, comp ratio's are critial. For some reason the BB's around here will not run on pump gas for any distance this is from 12:1 to 12:5 any more comp knocked out of it and they are really stones.

What works in the mountains does not work everywhere hence my educating the potential to be baited buyers!

once again could you educate me by saying what pistons you were refering to.

what ever happen to the bb shootout that was suppose to take place in Valemount, B.C last winter or the one before.

be nice to see some peeps make some marks on the hills and compare

If you have this shootout, bring a properly clutched stocker so we can see the diff.:face-icon-small-hap

we will. i have a couple stock revs / xps that are spot on. and modded as much as possible without having a bb. i know a couple people that are very insterested in doing this. i would doccument it with photos and videos aswell.

Will you have a dyno on hand? Im sure Turbo Jamie wont believe the results unless you have a dyno sheet. lol

Yep that wouldn't prove anything to him. He doesn't care what it does in real life only what it does on a dyno. IDIOT:D

yes we will be dragging a dyno to elevation and the sleds will only be raced on the dyno. then everyone will go back down the hill and the king will be announced.

then turbo jamie can hump bjs leg some more

i have spent the morning reading this thread... i dont care about the number shr 860 , i have one... now it runs strong but everyone thinks bj stands behind his work and does everything he can to help you... well not in my case my bb chit it self after 600 miles and it was like 14 months after i bought it and well i sent it back to BJ and asked for a quote and to tell me what went wrong... well no quote and no explaination what went wrong. just a bill... i do not think he stands behind his work ... i could have had it fixed here for cheaper and in less time 3 months to fix not very impressed ... i will never buy another bb kit from BJ .... thanks BJ

Ummm...your brother bought the kit, rode it all winter...you buy sled and ride it the second winter and it goes down...you send it back to "get fixed" not a qoute...I fix it, update the cylinder porting for free, and the pistons/chrome for just above cost (you couldnt have done it cheaper locally)... and you come on the open forum and complain???...what did you want me to doo?? wty a 2 year old mod motor?? doo wouldnt have wty'd a STOCK motor unless you BUY an extended wty...

I guess its true...a guy cant please ALL the people ALL the time....but dont for 1 second tell me I dont try...BJ

TJ- if you knew half the "techno factoid" crap you spout I would be impressed...the 13-1 RKT head works at 400' elevation for 3800' pulls on 92pump gas...as in 125 mph plus pg trail SHR860R sled...

Ok turbojamie, you started off ok by asking for dyno charts, so RKT gives you them, but you continue to talk shiiit. Answer Dicey's question what pistons do they (builders) use?

Most engine builders are using Cat pistons in their big bore engines. 85mm bore 22 mm pins, going to caged bearings to handle the larger pin size over the 21mm doo pin.

BJ man up and post a dyno sheet lets go already. 13:1 won't cut it on the trails and lake racing big guy nice try, especially at or near sea level AND on pump gas.
