I have had a chance to fianally get my 840 REV out here locally and I am very impressed with it , I still have it running pretty fat with oil in fuel tank but it seems like its going to be very good.

If you have one of these let me know what you think about yours good or bad, I ride at 3000-6000 ft what set up do you other mountain riders have .

I only got a couple rides on mine in some crappy spring snow last year. Looking forward to getting it dialed in this season, if only it would snow around here. I did convert to a roller secondary with DJ's helix over the summer. Will post more after the first ride and some experimentation.

Keep me posted and I will contiue to get mine dialed in ,

Anyone else, thought there were alot of these motors out there.

Yea,
I got one. Ran well this last weekend after I got the chunk of wood out of the needle and seat. Phone call to the Doc fixed that one ( BJ) Jetted to 430 after this weekend, will continue to tweek as needed. Pray for more snow!!!

Im at 400 mains, stock needle at 1 clip (down) richer than stock (washer under clip). #20 pilots.. I'm close...think I can finish w/ a fuel screw adjustment.

Slightly rich yet on the bottom and mid....1 clip adjustment is too much for the COLD days..maybe 390s would clean it up a bit too. Maybe I'll move the washer to the top..on the same clip setting, but i'm prob safer w/ a fuel screw adjustment

I made 35 miles on 3/4 of a tank of fuel... Will be cutting it close on a full day of riding (with using the extra fuel) 50-65 miles...

Rotax what elevation do you ride Im at 3000 to 6000 ,my needle is in the same as yours but Im currently at 440 mains and need lean out some .

mostly 9k-11k . . . mb as low as 8k on occasion?

but dpm is going to compensate from the base line you find, so if we have similar mods, we would be jetted similarily reguardless of elevation?

as far as i understand it anyway.

i was at 420s end of last season and was too rich in the mid...changed nothing but mains to 400s and rode Sat and was a lot better in the mid.
EGTs never saw over 1200, and it was COLD....but, it ran pretty darn good at WOT. i think fuel screw will solve my issue, rather play w/ that than dropping the needle..at this point..

i've noticed/learned that the fuel screw does a lot more to the mid range than one would think..oddly enough..

Thanks for the info Rotax, What is the trick to check your wash on the REV is there a special bore light or can you pull the exhaust valve and see the top of the piston.

I'm at 390's on mine. It gets a little HOT in the mid range going down the trail, but in the pow pow, its fine.

I check my pistons by pulling the guage pod off & opening the hood.

What gears are you guys running w/ your 840's??

whats your needle set at? 1 richer washer under?
using the #20 pilots?

ive been lazy n just goin off of plug wash/color.. =\ w/o a bore scope ($$$) its pretty tough checking rev piston wash...easily, in the field...

Last year I had the Aaen pipe and can and was at 440's and it seemed pretty dialed in.
Did everything per BJ's instructions and it was almost spot on.
Got the Crank Shop Mondos this year and now have to tinker with the thing through half the season.

I don't remember where the washer on the needle is, but I'm still useing the 17.5 pilots. I wanted to try the 20.0 pilots, but when I went to pull the 17.5 out, they were stuck, & I havnt tried sence. I didnt wanna fug up the carb threads.

in, as leaner out is richer.

its like opening a valve in a pipe that controls water flow. opening it more makes the water come out faster. closing it slows it.

change by 1/2 turns. and 1 turn is a complete turn, i put a black mark on the slots so i can see easily where i started... i typically reset each time i adjust to see where i'm at. by that i mean i turn them all they way IN..then turn them back out. this way you know exactly where your at each time, and aren't guessing at hmm was i starting from 2 turns out...now i think i'm at 1.5 turns...
i TRY to also document where my current setup is at all times. if your good at doing that, then you dont have to do the 'reset' trick each time.

hope that makes some sense?

from my own personal experiance fuel screw effects from idle to 1/3 or so throttle..it definately seems to effect the mid range a bit more than I first assumed. adjust it slowly and see if you feel/hear (or read plugs) a difference. 1/2 turns usually will give a result.

does anyone know what the air fuel does for midrange, what direction adds more fuel, is their a correct way to set this, thanks

I have a SHR 830 in a ZX and am at 390s, middle position on needle, 17.5 pilots, MPEM recalibrated, 04 carbs,VIPs, V-force, stock single. Ride at 2500-5000ft.

Well i've been waiting on mine four awhile now. John has had it since june:(. Someday it will come.

Not all of it is within his control...I felt your pain last year.

My setup:
6000' - 9000' elev.
440 mains
17.5 pilots
needles up one from stock - Second clip from the bottom if I remember right
159"x2" 9T extros with 19/47 gearing

It's finally snowing again, so this weekend should be a good one.
