Should I turbo or not?

Thinking about getting a boondocker turbo for my 163 Pro Rmk. I'm not looking to be the fastest turbo out there. I want good throtle response and pull and go setup that runs good. I dont mind some tunning but dont want to mess with it all of the time.
How many of you turboed and wish you didnt?
The 2013 kit looks and sounds good.
I cant deside to spend the extra on the intercooler, sounds like you get better bottom end with out it. But if you plan on running more than 10-12 psi you need it. Ride from 8500' to 10500' mostly 9500'-10300 though.
What do you guys think?

If you go Ogden valley sports turbo setup.....i have the intercooler portion of the setup for sale. A lot cheaper. :face-icon-small-hap:face-icon-small-hap:face-icon-small-hap

BD set up works great, they've got their kit pretty dialed out of the box. I to ride same elevation and have been running kit for a couple years with no issues. In fact my 60 year old dad said I was crazy for getting kit! Now he has one on his lol! I installed his and copied my kit and numbers while in the shop and he rode it all last year without touching box once and didn't ever open side panels. Now that's pull and go. I've rode them all and for all around performance it's the best.
Best of luck with decision

Why are you selling your intercooler?
I don't have an open check book, but don't want to buy a cheap kit and have problems.
I will have to check out Ogden valley and see what they offer.

Im thinking the same thing , Redrock.
I want to boost my pro as well and dont want to be messing with fuel boxes all the time .
Ive talked at length with my local BD dealer/installer and also talked at length with Boston Racing about the Silber kit
(the local BD guy said he is willing to work with the Silber kit).
Both are telling me the same thing ... if the kit is installed correctly , you will have no issues and both stand behind their product.
I do like the fact that the Silber can be installed without cutting the tunnel.
Personaly Id go with who is local to you ,that can help you with whatever kit you choose.

I was just looking to maybe do a head and or pipe to get some track speed, but come to find out the local guys I ride with all bought turbos. I'm not much of a watcher :) But I do want to ride out and not be pulled out, been down that road way to many times!

At your riding elevation a head and pipe will maybe get you 4 mph more track speed(that's generous). Now a turbo on the other hand will get you 20+ :face-icon-small-hap. Don't let your buddies get to the top before you :face-icon-small-win
Turbo your sled, do a maticulous install making sure every wire and tube is not in a rubbing or buring spot and you will b happy with your turbo for years to come

Go for it ! but as mentioned you wont go back. I rode a stocker once since I did and it sucked! boost changes everything! Im no where near a good enough rider to really use all the power but dam is it fun.

I only have experience with silber kits but I took like 4 x as long on the install as most and have been very happy with the result . Im quite certain the same applies for the other kits.

My personal experience, I suggest you buy from someone like Boondocks. They have a legitimate business with published working hours and people to answer the phone and call you back. I made the mistake of buying a Silber kit for my 09' Dragon and was left to figure it out on my own. Don’t let all Justin’s buddy’s tell you any different – he is a difficult (at best) to deal with.

Justin can be hard to get ahold of sometimes.....Thats why he has people out there like me. I apologize you had that experience but I can assure you that we are available 24/7 if you need us.

We have come very far since 09, yes we are still a small business and dont have a Published hours to call and talk to a tech that doesnt even work on turbos or sleds.

We encourage our customers to call us anytime night or day. We understand if your on a snowmobile trip and you have questions on the weekends, you dont want to sit around till monday to get ahold of anyone.

We strive on customer service and do our best to make sure everyone has a good running turbo.

See! Mr. Redrock. Just as predicted. Let me assure you, this is not how it went for me. !!!HEED MY WARNING!!! One of these days when I get p***ed off enough, I will publish my notes from the first day I talked to Justin up to my current staus - all my trials and tribulations. What comes around goes around!!

So could you answer for me why BD had to come up with a timing module to make the kit work, what did everyone else do??
The number one factor across the board I have seen with BD is you better have dealer that knows the kit or you better have extensive knowledge of BD, or get lucky. Otherwise if there is a problem you have to wait for the update. Although 3 yrs in they prob have a good handle on it.
It seems like a good turbo, no matter whos it is, as long as its setup right the pro seems more reliable than the stocker.

#1 Factor, either have turbo knowledge or find a dealer you can trust, If you find that dealer and can afford it, it doesn't matter what you get.
I still prefer twisted.

Lol, I love all the anti BD "experts on SW. BD's kit worked great without the module. I had mine and rode with several others, all ran great.

BD came out with the module to adjust timing to make the bottom end more responsive. And after riding several other people's kits, BD had the best throttle response. I haven't ridden an HM or Boost It yet though. They both look pretty sweet too!

The BD is a great kit. I'm glad I did mine, I'd never go back. At 10-12 lbs. you probably ok without the inter cooler. I'd be considering the inter cooler if your going to run 12lbs or above. I didn't run one when I was running 8 lbs. but added one when I started going above 10lbs. I ride the same altitudes that you mentioned. My BD works great!

Yep enough of the bashing, I feel all of us turbo companies are doing are best to perfect the turbo two stroke world.

I do apprieciate all the support on the forums, I hope everyone has a fun turbo snowmobile season, boost on.

Hope to meet many new people this season while out in the mountains.

We can also help you with your turbo needs. No bashing here, we just love the boost!!
