Should I go new or used?

I am in no hurry to get a sled; as really the riding doesn't start to get good until January. And the longer I wait, the more the price will come down on a 14; granted may only be few hundred bones.

I am looking for a 13 with low miles, and figure could pick up one for about $9500, and ideally would like some type of warranty left for peace of mind. So this price may not include any warranty.

I would consider a 12 if it had some warranty left, but would prefer a 13. Right now I can get a new Pro, with the basic add ons that I would want, for about $12,200 (at the most) with a 2nd year warranty. Or $11,200 with a 2 year warranty.

So, is it worth paying $2700 more for a 14?

Buy used or hold over the 1st year loss is a killer.
Warranty a lot depends the dealer you have. Most stuff like a arms, tunnel bracing, tracks, shocks and other stuff you are not going to get warranty.
Save the money and get a holdover 13. 2 year or 1 year because you will want to modify which may or may not conflict.

Holdover 13's are pretty much gone around here. And the one dealer that has them wants 10,900.

I vote new 14. It is and will be the most refined and reliable Pro ever made. I wouldn't be scared of a used 13 either but a new one with warranty is hard to beat if your leaving it mostly stock.

Here's what I would suggest Bob.

Forget sledding all together. Its a waist of time and $$. First you buy a sled, new or used. Theres $10k+. Then the normal maintenance. Theres $500. Then mods. Theres $1k+ ( depending on what you do of course). Then you need a trailer (or sled deck), assuming you already have a truck. Theres another $2k+.Then you have fuel and oil everytime you go ride. Another $1k+ out the window. Don't forget the broken parts that you'll have to replace, and Polaris ain't cheap. Another $1k. Then you have to find people to go with, and we all know what a pain in the *ss that is. By the time its all said and done you have spent $15k+ on something that you will ride a dozen times and then can't sell it for half that price. We all know you never get out of it what you put in it but the sled prices today are just pain stupid.

I'd take the money, buy your wife a lovely anniversary gift and take her on a trip to Hawaii or some place tropical. Oh wait, you just did that. Well then take the money and put it in a mason jar and hide it in the back yard because your gonna need it to survive on when Obama is finished with this country and the next President takes over. Lord help us all.

Just my two cents.

BTW. this rant was brought to you by me. Because I will not be sledding this season on account that I'm going in for back surgery #dos. I hate you all. No really. Take lots of pics and send them to me. No really, don't. Seriously. :face-icon-small-fro

Additionally I'd like to say that Bob and I are good friends and this post should not be seen in anyway form as a jab at his character, personal hygiene, or riding ability. No matter how bad they all are.

Love ya Bro.
2013 Pro 155 all the way - for you
2014 Pro 155 all the way - for me (next season):face-icon-small-ton

NitroJunky wants a '14 for next year... So have him buy it now, then you take care of it for him all winter! Ride and maintain it for him, then he'll know its in good shape for next year!

And, youll have a whole season of extra time to find the right sled!

:)

Bob,

I know this guy over in WA that has a 13 for sale. Super low miles. No extras to speak of, but it is at a killer price for a sled with that low of miles. Practically brand new.

wait a minute............still waiting.....:typing:........:gossip:........

You just bought it didn't you?:tape2:

Picking it up for you tomorrow.

I hope you enjoy the ride.

I'd also need back surgery if I picked up sleds for my friends! At least it's not a Yamaha..... :face-icon-small-ton

I have my personal 13 Pro 163 with only 191 miles for $9500. But the plan is if it doesn't sell for that price I will just ride it for another season!:face-icon-small-hap

Most of the '13s are gone around here as well. One dealer has two 163's that can be had for 10,900 OTD or for $200 more with a three year warranty.

Te dealer out of '13s has offered me a '14 800 Pro 155 for 11,200 one year warranty and $200 more for a second year engine warranty.(November promotions)

I also am in no hurry. I first have to give away an old edge sled to bolster the coffers. Then I suspect after the first of the year both of my options will be cheaper yet. I am just trying to convince myself that the motor problems are not as bad as they were with the dragons.

Drive to UT and grab a new 13 163 for $10k. That seems to be the best value that I can see.

If you are talking about the ksl $9950 '13 163 ad.... better read the whole ad. They are out of those but will give you a great deal on a '14 lol

I suspect the deals on the '14 pros will continue to get better. Maybe Ican get a good deal on an assault come January.
