should i be worried about buying 07 xrs 800r?

i found a decent deal on a 2007 xrs 800r 151" with 400 miles. should i be concerned about the problems i've heard about or have the updates taken care of the issues? thx for any help.

I dont know a whole lot but the general consensus when I was looking for my sled was that 06 is the only real security. The 07s needed a bunch of clutch work and they were prone to crank issues. Ask the guy selling it or a local dealer what you will need to watch out for and fix ahead of time. My uncle has an 07 but its not the xrs and it needed clutch mods.

I just got an 06 x and I have been polishing the shiz out of it waiting for snow.

good luck

I love my '07, but wouldn't if I didn't have a warranty. Has a '08 engine as the original broke a skirt and took out the bottom end. If it's still under warranty I say go for it, strong running sled!

I blew mine at 1200 miles. They warrantied it and put a crate motor in it. How would I know if its another 07 motor or if its the 08? Work was done end of Feb. Anybody?

I've asked to dealer if the engine is replaced with a 08 when it blows and was told no. The case on a 08 is completely different than a 07 in terms of how it bolts into the different chassis.

Mine blew feb of this year it was warranited with an 08 motor...

mine is getting a 08 long block, 08 engine will fit in a 07 but not vice versa. mine let loose at 4600 km. at 3200 km the base gasket went leaking coolant into the engine and also out of where the cases meet. if its got warrenty and a good dealer go for it. by now most of the clutchign issues are figured out, mine ran good all season, only blew one belt this season and that was my fault, it was in june on a hot day.

have had good luck with mine too, it's got 1200 miles on it now (80% mountian miles) and has had no issues. I've been running the same belt for the past 600 miles...I'm sure it's ready for a swap soon!

I've had quite some issues with mine. I've had clutching issues (fixed with updates, than the updates were updated with updates!!!) Than I had a broken reed which caused some inconsistent running. I took the motor out (crank bearings) which was replaced with a 08 short block. Than the rest of the season I was fighting with an electrical issue. Dealer finally found a shorted out throttle position sensor and a shorted water temperature sensor. I have yet to test it out since the fix but I will (hopefully) let you know after this weekend!!!:D

All the 2007 needs is the bottom end replaced to the 2008 Spec, track change to powdermax, proper clutching (I used a DJ kit + loosening up arms + proper tuning), optional to get a head to get 13 - 14:1 compression and the sled will really rock. Also adjust oil injector adjustment (search for it on here).

Once my engine was replaced, clutched it properly (factory clutching was really off the mark), biggest preformance change was track change, now this sled is really untouchable (even by most XP's), unless someone dropped a pile of cash on their XP, this is a real strong runner and is hard to beat. can't wait for the snow....2 more weeks to first trip!

really really happy with this sled. nice to see the older REV chassis hang a lickin' on the new XP's (and yes we switch riders to eliminate that variable). some really good value, especialy with XRS"s going so cheap.....amazing shock package too.
