Short video by Polaris from 2013 Launch Day!

I wouldn't back down from these booger pickers Ralph. You nailed it when you observed there was nary a single criticism in the video. That's not real and unbiased advice. Hell I think my 440 chassis is the best thing out there and I can tell you things I would change slightly with it. They didn't even make one single recommendation for change at least in the video. The sled is perfect! Okay if you say so...

I'm riding it tomorrow. I've been riding Pros since last year, and I love the sled. I am eager to see if I can feel the weight loss, and if the belt drive makes a difference, other than rotating mass. As I said, I really like the sled, but I wish it had the same ponies as my Cats.

Not really backing down, I just watched the wrong video. So somebody please post that video, then all of my posts will make sense.

Right on Kim, tell us what you like and what you don't. I'm curious are the bars are up over the skis or do they put you in the back seat? Find some hard snow to flat land it on and let me know what bends ha.

I have a belt drive on my XP. It feels smoother and I lost weight and rotating mass. But prolly not as smooth as a stocker. I do have to deal with some turbo lag, but not enough to b*tch about. The video I watched You know who said that this sled will outperform any other sled on the market, regardless of the mods. I call BS on that one. When I get home, I will watch this video. Maybe these people are giving an honest opinion, but I can tell you this, everything that a paid, sponsored, endorsed rider says I take with the same value I take from a politician. Nothing. I will listen to riders I know, who receive nothing in return, and I mean nothing in return. Not even a frickin free sticker. And that goes for any brand sled out there.

As stated earlier, we only had access to the chassis engineers, and all of the changes discussed were chassis related.

If we had some face time with the powetrain engineers, I guarantee it would have been a difficult conversation for them.

We were there to ride and evaluate the 2013 and all of the chassis changes...AND, of all the changes they made for the 2013, I didn't have a single complaint. They addressed the running boards, they took even more weight off, and the addition of the belt drive (along with a lighter jackshaft, and new extruded driveshaft) reduced the rotational forces to allow the sled to lay over even easier.

Kim, I didn't feel any noticable difference in the power delivery...chain drive is very efficient, and the engineers said when asked that the belt drive was to reduce rotational weight, not a significant increase in efficiency.

It would have been great to have a blower pow day, but we had what we had, and made the best of it.

OK. Try this: Make a vid of real world riders, guys that pay their own way and aren't swayed by free sleds, guys that won't lose their sponshurship or job if they said the sled sucked as$.

EVERY SINGLE one of those riders said close to the same thing back when they were sponsored by other sled makers.

Also REASON NUMBER ONE AS TO WHY YOU RIDE AND SUPPORT THOSE SLEDS:

THEY FRICKING PAY YOU AND GIVE YOU SEVERAL FREE SLEDS A YEAR!

LOL!

Last time I checked the only thing that sponsored ANY of my riding was my checkbook.
I was really excited about getting to ride the 2013s and visit with the production engineers.
They did ask what we liked and didnt like about. I didnt hold back when they asked.
The square head on the front suspension mount bolt smacked me right on the knuckle of my big toe when I was jumping into the footwells, the key on the glove warmer would be broken of with it sticking straight up, cable scratchers because I always frickin forget and back up with em down, no gearing choices sucks, $150 for a fuel filter(cars are $30).

They made note and looked and asked questions about everything we talked to them about to make sure they understood us and our concerns.

Think about it from a marketing perspective, get the riders together and get video good and bad.
The good praising clips are going to go up in ads and on the internet to sell sleds. The bad or negative comments are going to be viewed by the the engineers and design team only.
how long do you think Mark Nevilles is going to have a job if he puts out a video that has comments about what a POS it is and all the things that riders had concerns about.
I'll ride with any brand of sled and I like to trade back and forth to compare them. They've all got good points. This video gives all of the good points we brought up about the 2013 Pro

That giant red text hurts my eyes

This whole thread hurts my eyes.

Alot of what is written here can be read as brand biase and alot can be read as jealousy. All a matter of perspective. MY perspective? I was offered a neat opportunity, I took it, I enjoyed it, STILL trying to enjoy it here..... but some (insert something funny like booger heads) are really raining on my parade!!! :mmph:

I've seen the change that switching to a PRO has done for many of my girlfriends, it's insane the increase in stamina, skill and confidence they've gained. Could this happen on another sled? Possibly, but I have not witnessed it. This makes me very passionate about this chassis!!! :whoo:

Here's a statement I said straight to the guys, on camera, that didn't make the cut. I am not brand loyal. I have only ever ridden Polaris, this is absolutely true. But for two main reasons, 1) any other sled I've tried (and given a good hard try) has not matched my riding style. MY RIDING STYLE. 2nd reason is dealers. I've had fabulous dealers and they keep me on the sled that I'm on.

I think this is a fabulous sled. If you don't, that's fine too... I'd still ride with you. Even you Duke, some day... ;)

Ralph, sure seems like you are a bit grumpy these days? I was just about to offer to pay your wife's way to the Pink Ribbon Rider event but have now changed my mind after this thread going south. :face-icon-small-fro

If we all spent as much time writing letters on land closures as we do complaining about brand loyal paid professionals, not enough HP and the new overly used word flickable we might have more land to ride on. Just a thought!

Now, Where is my paycheck for being a Professional??? LMAO! :high5:

First, I don't accept charity. I can afford to do the Pink Ribbon Ride but I think the fee that they ask per person is totally insane. And I know lots of couples that wanted to attend but declined once they found out how much, BECAUSE they couldn't afford it. Organizers can give any excuse in the book but I know for a FACT that costs to hold an event cut be trimmed as to make it an affordable event for everybody and everybody feels good because they had fun and helped out an awesome cause. People just have to try harder. I have done it so I know. The pink Ribbon ride is supposed to be a ride, not a concert with some cheesy no-talent country band from Grand County. (I live here, I know there are no good bands), I could care less about snow golf. I just wanted to go with my wife to show support for her friends that survived, honor her friends that lost the battle and God Forbid, my support for her if she has to ever fight that horrible fight. But even though I can swing it, I stand on principal, $175 per person is crazy.

Since I generally am the only one that says anything it was left up to me to say something. Big Surprise, huh? So, we won't be attending. I will make my Save the Boobies donation this year as I always do and I will do the Race for the Cure as I always do. Go ahead, be pissed at me. We'll get over it.

Second. Yes, I was a little grumpy. I'm just so tired of hearing/reading about the PRO (and I don't even go into the Polaris section, this is in the Doo Section) and the obvious brand bias and bashing of the Doo XP or XM. I love my Doo. My dealer that I got it from (RIP Xtreme :( ) was phenominal and the new dealer I have gotten my sled warrantied/service and purchased parts from is quite exceptional (Steamboat Powersports) and that alone will keep me right on a Doo. So, I see your point and I understand it. Like I said earlier I assumed that you posted the same video that was on Facebook. My apologies for assuming. I watched that vid twice and the riders (yes, these ones are PAID by Polaris) and just the way they said things rubbed me the wrong way. One of them literally says the same damn thing every year. He can't even bring on a little originality and say things differently. He said it when he was on Cat, said it on the Dragon and now the PRO. It's almost funny.

I started riding when I was a kid on a Ski Doo Elan. Then graduated to the John Deere Spitfire 440, then I had an El Tigre. Then in HS and college I stopped riding. Picked it back up on a 1997 Summit X 670, went to the 1999 Summit X 670 and modded the Hell outta that thing. Stepped up to a 2005 REV Summit and modded, then went to a 2008 REV-XP and now have a modified 2009 Summit X and it's just gotten better with every sled. So, why change? They have a pretty good track record with me and if I had a warranty issue it was taken care of ASAP! If I was to lose any riding at all due to a sled issue, I was given a Demo XP to ride while my sled was in sick bay. Yet another reason to stay put. I have several friends and acquaintences that are on the 2nd, 3rd or 4th PRO motor. Enough to keep me away from that ticking time bomb. The chassis, well it's damn nice.

So, I apologize again for upsetting you. I'm not gonna go back and change it. It's been said, read and remembered. But to reiterate, there is no jealousy, hatred, anger or any discontent to you, Phatty, Brad, Turbolover, Mountainhorse or any other rider in your thread here. I do have issues with Paid Endorsers. That applies to those who endorse trucks, bikes, sleds or quads.

So, ride on and have a wonderful evening.

aaa yes how we all soon for get, I remember the same kind of video back in 07-08 how the dragon was the best there was.It was a good sales video back the and so it this one. Do we all still remember the dragon? I do i still have it. Going to sell it off when i get out of the shop. I think 4 sets of pistons and 3 heads in 2000 miles is a bit much. The video makes me want to get the new one. But if things go to sh%% on it is polaris going to stand by and make it right or sweep it under the rug like the last one
