Shocks front/Rear

I’m wondering thoughts and opinions. I’m going to do some shock work soon. Probably replacing and possibly revalving.
What are some thoughts on which contribute more to better handling? The 2 rear or the 2 Ski shocks.
I’d like to buy 4 but I don’t think I want that expense. I’m leaning on upgrading the 2 rear and revalving skiis.
22 850 Khaos.

I asked Tony about revalving my 2022 Khaos shocks last year, after hearing that suggestion on here. This was his response:

"I can refresh them, if you want them revalved I would send them to Carl’s.
I haven’t found a good backcountry tree riding package I like."

Maybe that has changed a year later. Hopefully he will respond to this thread.

I know Tony worked tirelessly on RMSHA guys shocks. He'd be my choice. I spoke to him recently and he found in a few circumstances the high/low speed compression clickers on the velocity's were un-responsive.

I am working on a different H/L option. I’m not satisfied with the WE Velocity shocks.
For stock shocks, I can make the mono tube shocks work much better than the Velocity’s.
Those of you that stoped at our booth, at Hay Days, noticed I was running mono’s on my Boost.
And yes, I have been rebuilding shocks since 1993. I haven’t advertised the service, but there are many on SW that run my revalve.
I also have EXITS on my 9R for the ‘24-‘25 season. Testing never ends.

Yeah I’m not a big fan of the velocity’s. I gave them a couple years of trial. I find them either too soft or too harsh. And then all the things that go along with those characteristics.

Stock shocks are underwhelming, no matter which you have.

Many folks are getting valving updates via folks like Carls and TRS, but ultimately the aftermarket exists for a reason: they perform a LOT better.

I has Carl's revalve my stock khaos shocks last winter. They're better than stock, but not as good as I was expecting or hoping they'd be. I have exits I'll put on this year

I ruined my past "velocity shocks are good enough" beliefs when I installed QS3s last year. Now I'm forever fuC&ed.

I agree with this. Ive had very nice shocks previously on a different sled. I thought I could/ should be able to like the velocitys, but i just do not.

Keep us posted on the Exits!!

I've got a 24 Khaos and I've been looking at the Exits, Raptors and a slight consideration on Fox Coils or QS3???

Did you go for the Burandt deal with a free Klim avy pack?

I did, that's pretty hard to pass up!

Pretty much sealed the deal when Chris called and we talked about the different shock packages, my riding style and what I'm looking for and what I've run in the past. As always the guys at BBA are great to deal with!!

Update,......................

Full set of Fox QS3's ordered. We'll see how these work out.
You are going to love the QS3's. I had full set on my Axys & it was my favorite mod on that sled. First thing I did with my 9R was pull the Velocity shocks & ordered full set of Burandt QS3's for it. Excited to try them on the Matryx chassis this season.

Make sure you check the tightness of the air valves on all the Evol chambers and main chambers. If the shocks are covered in oil when you get them this is the culprit. I would still check them just to be sure even if no oil mess. I got 2 full sets of QS3s and all had some with loose air valves. One set I even sent back to Fox and they replaced them and the replacements also had loose air valves. It's a simple 10mm socket and retourque them then no issue. I noticed it when filling them with air when i took the filler hose off the air valve came with it! I think there was a run of them after covid that had poor QC. Otherwise I'm very excited to use them this season!
