Shipping Question

Anyone ever had to ship their rding gear any where?

I'm going riding in Feb with Big Bull and crew, but I am flying into Portland(have to visit the wifes grandparents in order to play) and I need to get my gear out.

I definitly don't want to pay the extra fees for a gear bag, so I am going to ship it to Portland.

Just trying to figure out the best way? Who's the cheapest, most reliable? Should I box it up or just send it in my bag?

I would check the shipping rates of Fedex, UPS, and the USPS, and see what is cheaper for both ways. I would then check with the airline and see what their rates are for the extra luggage for round trip. I would then do what is ever cheaper between your final two.

Me personally, I would just pay the extra through the airline. It would be less of a headache than having to deal with the hassle of getting it shipped back to your home.

paying the airline will be cheaper than paying to ship it there and back...

and, hopefully less chance for it to get lost..

i was thinking the opposite.

if i ship it early, then if it's lost I have time to find it....if the airline looses it, I would have about 1 day to find it before riding. Plus I like the idea of a tracking number...

Guess I better start calling around and figure out how much it weighs.

Eh, i'd see how much the airline would charge for it. Then see what it'd cost to ship it. I've shipped gear for work before, found it easier just to bring it with me. If you don't need it upon arrival, shipping may be a more cost-effective option.

Well I fly int Portland on the 2nd of the month and don't head to spokane until the 5th or 6th. The nice deal with shipping is that I can send it right to the wifes grandparents.

Just heard to many stories of luggage being 2 or 3 days behind when you trust the airline....which is fine, I don't NEED clean drawers, but I NEED my riding gear.
