Saw their rigs in the Snow King lot after riding. Had heard that they were "enforcing" the Wildnerness area boundaries. Anyone get nabbed?

sorry jim is in alpine filming this weekend. so since he can't be two places at once that is now a non rumor. dan bush might have been there riding since it is his local riding area.

Buddy rode there last weekend, said two people got there sleds confiscated.

thats a load of crap

Guess the hibernating bears now can't breed cuz two guys rode snowmobiles in the wilderness area

ride past a wilderness sign,they take your sled.fish without a license,they take your pole....spankins

Since us snowmobilers don't seem to be smart enough to stay out of the wilderness on our own, I guess they have to start enforcing the rules. The rules are pretty straight forward. We all know where the boundaries are.

There are plenty of legal areas to ride, but a couple a-holes have to ride in the wilderness and make us all look bad. When the Sheriff and FS get enough complaints from hikers/climbers, they have to do something about it.

I agree, but I think taking their sleds is a bit harsh. Of course, if it's true that this happened, you can almost bet the two guys that lost their sleds will think twice before trying it again.

Not true - the signs have come down lower on the mtn and after Obama signed the latest bill two weeks ago WHO KNOWS where the current boundaries are??? I've never seen a hiker that high in the winter so who's complaining? Have you ever even been to Mt Adams? Our riding areas are shrinking! And what exactly is the harm? There is NO wildlife up there, especially during winter months, and the snowpack is 15 feet deep. Don't blame me - I didn't vote for Obama!

G MAN

PS - The latest Wilderness Bill added 200,000 acres at Mt Hood basically eliminating all off-road snowmobiling there. The one last spot was Bonny Meadows and that is now gone as of two weeks ago. If you think this problem is localized - guess again. The total bill was for over 2 MILLION acres and that's just the tip of the iceburg now that liberals have control.

Like it or not you are usually responsible to know where you are, boundry signs and closed area signs are put up to remind you where you are. Usually somebody gets pissed and tears the signs down, you can still be cited sign or no sign, the next guy has no reminder so he gets whacked for a violation.

the whole damn country is in the toilet.... yet they still have money to pay the "Twig Pigs" for sunday and holiday harrassment. Here they are making terrorist out of hardworking fun-loving Americans. Sure glad this is a free country. Phawk Me!!!!!!:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

The posts you guys are making defending the wilderness violators is the exact thing that gives the environmentalists the traction they need to get law enforcement's attention and to shut down more areas.

All they have to do now is sit back and watch us self distruct. Good going!

I agree 100%
If you don't like the rules then try and get them changed.
While the rules exist you should abide by them. If not then don't whine when they confiscate your $hit.

I agree, but only to a point.
If our legitamate attempts to stem the left-wing land gobblers, then civil dis-
obediance may be a logical recourse.
This will however, need to far more organized than a couple of yahoos
whooping it up in the newly labled "wilderness" area.

Basically, if they outlaw our favorite areas, they will be forcing us to become outlaws.:(

whats wrong with you guys you think just because someone rides out of bounds they are gonna make it wilderness. THEY ARE GONNA take away our riding areas AnywaY I bet the same ones complaining about some one being a rebel are the same ones that aren't helping us keep are area open. right now they are trying to take away thousands of acres my riding area.maybe you could ask yourself have i done everything i could to help keep my fellow snowmobler , recreation users area from being closed. they close me down, matter of time its gonna be your turn. no im not a profit you can just see it coming you all will be riding around in a crowded little area talking about the good ole days. lets all be goody two shoes, unfortunally i'm stuck in a city full of them i refuse to roll over like a wouped dog and show my under belly.i guess if they make me a rebel thats what i'll be --- rant over

Concerning Mt Adams, I believe there was talk earlier this season that the forest service incorrectly placed the signs for the boundary. I think some guys were trying to compare gps coordinates of the boundary signs from this year to last year.

So, maybe the two guys were riding an area that they have ridden before and thought it was okay. I don't know the whole story just speculating.

That's my point - they are being moved around so which way is up? In fact there are now signs right at the end of the burn area going the back way up to the lava fields. I cannot tell if they are to prevent us from even going that way OR if they are just telling us to stay on the trail up to the Chute?! Another guy in the lot said the ban from the burn area was lifted beginning that weekend as they deemed it safe from snags and hazards. There are so many conflicting stories it's ridiculous!

Have FUN!

As a private individual, I sent $200 to SAWS. Based on the SAWS website, I'm one of 12 individuals who has donated $50 or more. I'll assume that you are one of the other 12?

Personally, I think that donating to an organized cause does more than riding illegally in wilderness areas and calling it 'civil disobedience'?

You're right, none of my regular riding areas are threatened. You have every right to be pissed and fight like he!! if they are trying to take away existing riding area. All I'm saying is that poaching existing wilderness isn't helping anyone. If someone got their sleds nabbed because the USFS moved the signs beyond the actual boundary, they've got a legitimate gripe. If they got their sleds nabbed because they wanted to hit some fresh pow in the wilderness and figured the rules don't apply to them, they knew the consequences.
