CatWoman,
I hear your concerns, loud and clear. Changes should be implemented to allow folks to serve on juries w/o negatively affecting their financial status.

But, forcing welfare recipients to serve on juries in not the answer. Do YOU want a jury box full of welfare slackers, I sure as heck don't. I want a jury of my peers.

I do feel there should be evaluations of how the welfare $ is being spent, to determine if the recipient should continue to receive the benefit - at a minimum! The system needs to be overhauled to deter welfare dependence.

I agree PE....that's just a vent I've had for awhile as I watch others take advantage of the system, sit home all day (the ones I know, not generalizing that everyone does that), while others are *penalized* by the government because they choose to be a registered voter and have a job that brings in money to support the family (and pay taxes). :face-icon-small-con

Sandy :)

I don't have any personal experience with welfare, although I have known many people that have made a career out of milking the system in one way or another, disability, unemployment, etc. The amount of money going out of our state unemployment right now is rediculous, and I believe there is talk about benefits being extended for up to two years. If I were to dream up a way to create more people dependent on the state, this would be a close second to universal health care.

Back to the topic at hand. Is anyone familiar with the way the Isrealis get such a high percentage of people in their military?
