see-through tunnel?

has anyone ever tried to make a see-though tunnel out of plexi-glass or something? It probably wouldn't be the strongest or lightest or anything, but I think it would look pretty cool seeing the track rotating up and around in deep snow.

yes its been done, have seen tube chassis like that, but how are you going t o watch the track spinning while riding:pop2:

Guy here in Cedaredge has one with what looks like gills cut into the sides. Looks cool and his theory is it gets rid of the built up air pressure in the tunnel for less drag. Don't know if it does or not but he seems to think so and given what the rest of the sled has on it and workmanship I see he may have something. Interesting and quite the conversation starter if nothing else!

you can compensate the excess pressure from your tunnel with a Giant turbo. in respects with pressure we will call it good with the bad:face-icon-small-hap

I've seen a see through engine, see through crankcase, see through pistons etc. I do not want one, you can have all of them you want.:face-icon-small-ton:beer;

there were pics of an old wedge tube chassis that had plexi glass over it. was kinda cool but had to be heavy

for those who have built tube tunnels over the years, instead of using a thing alum sheeting, you could easily do lexan.. would look pretty dang sick.. might not the best choice material wise, but would be sick none the less.

X2. One problem could be that after a while, the lexan would get all scratched up. Ohh, and they do make see through diferential covors for trucks.

The Lexan tunnels are an old school mod thing from the 90s.

This one was built my an old HS classmate. He was a shop teacher in Homer, AK for a while. I think I heard this sled is still running around up there somewhere.
