I finally got to go out and i have this scratching/ticking sound, that starts at 6200-6300rpms and comes and gos as the rpms go up. At first i though it was clutching (weights or something) could the power valves be causing the noise? the noise almost sounds like a screw driver scratching on something. What rpm does the power valve move at? Any ideas guys?

is it like a long non stop scratch sound or does it come on and off relatively quickly? sounds like it might b loose shields somewhere, on the pipe, clutch cover, or elsewhere

frequently that noise is associated with the screws on the back, inside of the driven clutch starting to come loose, and they are rubbing on the diamond drive case....if you pull the driven off, you can check this easily...there are nine screws there, and it's not uncommon for them to back out...once you know where they are, you can check them by just putting your hand around the front edge of the driven and feeling that they are all in place...you will have to rotate the driven a bit at a time in order to feel all of them..:)

I tore into today, i checked all the clutching and even took out the power valves and found nothing. While scratching my head I seen the shield that protects the injectors from the y-pipe/muffler, there was a bolt missing on the left side. here is the pic with the spot circled in red, the bottom spring from the y-pipe/muffler was rubbing on it. I think it is it. will ride Saturday to find out. I replaced the bolt and put lock tight on it.

thanks guys
