scratchers info ,best option for reverse ect

i think id like to get a set but want to get the right ones the first time lol.. i have reverse on the sled and can picuture myself forgeting to lift them up or whatever do need to do even before i get some..what r my options ? which are best ? best price ? ect ..thanx

They will bend back a time or two before breaking if you accidently back up. If you can't remember to lift them and you back up a lot they make cable ones that you can back up with and not hurt. I haven't tried them so can't really give you any feedback on them.

I went through three sets of Holz's because of that damn reverse!! I have slidekicks cables...google it...they're a little more at first, but......:face-icon-small-win

Very easy to train yourself... If your backing up, LOOK DOWN FIRST!!!!!

Before you know it, it will be habbit and you'll never forget..... Haven't lost a scratcher to reverse yet;)

If you can't do that, then get some slide-kicks, not quite as much down-force, but you wont have to worry about breaking them.

I never lose them to reverse, were I bend them is when I shoot off a trail without raising them and then climb something and not make it. The sled slides backward and bend them. I stop and put them up before pulling that now.

Slidekicks have worked great on my wifes RMK. They are not better than the traditional spring type scratchers on hard ice, but in normal trail snow conditions they have kept her sled at the same engine temps as my sled with Holz spring type. I'll be putting Slidekicks on when mine wear out or become customized using reverse.

I use, and sell, the Slidekicks because of the bending problem I had with the others. I just couldn't remember to put them up when reversing or when jumping off trail.

The only thing about them, I would suggest storing them in the down position, I left mine over the rail last summer and when I went to put them down for the first time they were almost shaped to the up position. Other than that.... I like 'em.

Interested, shoot me a PM.

You only forget them once in reverse, cables never seem to have enough downforce when you need it.

Ditto. Had the slidekicks last season and the only dropped my temps about 5-10 degrees. I'm trying solids this year.

A trick that helps save your scratchers is to mount them so the spring end sits on top of the rail instead of in a hole. This way if you back up the scratcher will just rotate around instead of bending.
Sorry no pic, I still have mine mounted the normal way.

I went thru 2 sets of the slidekicks and they are just not in the same class as spring scratchers for a good spray to lube the track. I will only buy the spring type, they aren't perfect, but they work much better.

This does help! I have mine mounted like that and I never have a problem. However I do have a few thousand sets in stock as a back up just in case!! :face-icon-small-hap

Seriously though....mounting them on top of the rail does help. In addition to the traditional spring style I am hoping to release a reversible (spring style) unit very soon. Still prototyping but looking good!!

Oh.....and if you do buy a set of mine and bend or break one (even if you back up on it) I will replace for up to three months after your purchase at no charge providing you pay shipping or arrange shipping.

Get an extra set of springs and keep them in your truck or trailer if you can, just in case you break one.

DO you have a website where you sell them?
