Saying Goodbye

Well - i sold my Cat and bought a Doo. It's been Cats from the beginning for me but AC pissed me off pretty good last year and made me fix stuff out of pocket that should've been warranty. Not cool. Loved my 1000 after all the changes, but it was time to try something else out. So after 5 cats in a row i'm gonna try the infamous XP out.

Just wanted to say thanks for all the guys (and gals) in this section for your help. Hope the Doo guys are as cool as you guys were.

You can still PM me with Cat questions if you like as i've got to know this M chassis really well in the last 4 seasons.

It was a good ride while it lasted. :D

Thanks!

Quick.

Well sorry to hear that mrquick hope you enjoy your new ride, make sure you vent that clutch on the xp they get smokin hot without it and hopefully the new dealer gives you a little better service.

Thats unfortunate that Cat is treating it's good customers so poorly that they are leaving for the competition. Not to mention the fact that most of the Cat dealers are closing up shop. Cat had better start treating it's customers and dealers alittle better, or it my be a short road for them in this tough economic time. Good luck with your new ride.

I'm sure you figured out that in the Doo world, Dootalk is the better forum. They have some great guys over there with lots of help too. I've recently gone in this direction, so I spend my time now here on SW :face-icon-small-hap

Just curious what the problems were and why they didn't cover it under warranty?

See the "Belt Blower" thread.

Ended up fixing the issue with stiffer motor mounts, but it took me all season to figure that out. pretty lame and it cost me about $800 in belts - only actually blew one, all the rest being removed before explosion - just threads being pulled. I'd love that money back. Glad i fixed it in the end, but still pissed me to high hell that cat wouldn't step up and that they would never call me back. pretty lame for sure.

Hopefully Doo treats me better.

Duc848 - i'd let get one of those too (assuming you've got an 848! :D)

Sounds maybe like it had a lot to do with the dealer in my opinion. I could be wrong.
I do have an 848 yes.

I hate to see you leave. you have been a great leader in the info part of Cat.:beer;

Just a side not. I have a buddy that is pissed at Doo for belt issues and will be riding a Cat this year:D

I did the XP thing last year, I bet you will be back. The self leveling thing built into the XP sucks unless you like to point it up the hill and come straight back down.

I also got tired of paying $135 for a belt and you will use belts!

Bummer on the 1000 not workin out for ya, sounded like you spent alot of time on getting it right. Maybe you want your old M7 back (will be an 800 this year but I ain't gunna give it up). You will learn to like the xp, different riding for sure. Good luck.

mrquick, you are a good guy with a lot to offer in knowledge and tuning. We'll be here when you get back next year on the all new Cat!:)

xx2^

but best of luck with the new ride some time we all need a little something different, see you next year.

I'm in the process of switching from doo to cat. A friend of ours bought the cat dealership in town and the only good doo dealer is 350 miles away.

I'll swap you doo info for cat info any day my friend. There are some great guys on dootalk. I miss that forum since I've been studying the ***** cats. Every question was answered within a few hours.

whats the deals on some new m8 snopro's??!! :D

As in all sleds dealer support is important. I was so pissed off at cat last year I scrapped my m1000sp that I had bought new. Sled had a ecm issue from day one and after the warranty expired they finally admitted it. I crushed the ecm and parted the sled completely. Here I am giving a cat one more chance. My guess is you will be back on a cat next season. By the way nice sled. rode it acrooss the lake and back. Figured if it made it 2 miles on open water I could chance trailering to the hills. Fred.

We have opposite movement around here: people are leaving Doo to be Cat people. Everyone have same the reasons: Belts and reliability.

So, have a nice year with Doo (hopefully you get good one) and welcome back next year! I have learned a lot by reading your writings :)
