Saws

I use my saw almost every ride. I feel it is a very important piece of equipment to have with you on the mountain.

I have bought a few Snobunje saw in the past and have really like them.
shark teeth style able to rip through a log in no time, very strong and durable as well. I use them during both winter and summer in the mountains.

However I just bought a new snobunje saw, same model as in the past. I must say this is a cheap Chinese piece of flimsy metal. Very weak and not the same durability as in years past. So I am in the market for the latest and great saw on the market. light weight and durabilty are my main concerns.

What is everyone else using for saws?

Thanks

actually, i want to carry my saw early seaon to make sure we can get down the trails.. as for a pack saw, i have a flip open once i bought at the hardware store for $20... its got SUPER sharp teeth and the blade is around 16" long, the teeth are angled backwards so you can only pull to cut, but this way the blade doesnt get kinked... and the end of the handle is sorta hooked so you can cut like a maniac.. i use it a LOT!!!

I like the shark teeth style, I feel if it is quality metal it should not kink.

I use this one but I wont say "I use it every ride"

It works very well and has got me out of some serious timber.

I've looked a few like that, I havent seen them in action but they look like they would do the job. Does it just rip through and cut fast through the timber, or does it take a bit of effort?

Toggy tested and approved

Can never go wrong with a geber.

Thanks guys.:beer;

I have the same one togger has, overall been really happy with it but I did have it pinch in a "log" (about 3-4" tree) once and bent the blade as well as some other minor damage.

Oh yeah..it rips through quicker than any pruning saw I have used. Wood is soft and I usually have another guy using one side while I pull the other. I will PM you a pic of its record. I just try not to publish that.

I have some old chain laying around...think I'll try to build one...good to hear it works good.

I use the same as Toggy..Yep you can't beat a Gerber:)

Have a snowbungie one also, it's got alot thicker blade and I like that one as well...works great.

I do like the looks of the Stihl P30...might have to try it out !:beer; Thanks Kevin.

i've worked in the residential tree service business for over five years and corona makes a folding saw that is second to one....stihl, but they don't offer a folding saw.

AHAH!! thats the one i have.. a corona.. the only time i have had any issues is I was trying to cut an 8" tree down over the road, cut in from the top some, then started from the bottom and didnt hit the cut perfect and when trying to finish the cut it put a tiny wobble in the blade.. but thats 2 years of forest slaying behind it.. and it wasnt very $$$

X2 I snapped my snobunje saw the first time I used it this year. POS imo.
