Saratoga Wyoming.

Hey Guys,
Wondering if you guys can tell me something about this place. I did a search and found a little info but was looking for some more. I have never been to the Snowies. Usually go to Vail but from what I understand, the conditions are not good. Looked like the Saratoga Inn was a nice place to stay. Can you ride to the trailhead right from there?? Would I be better off staying in Centennial or Albany?? Not looking to climb any huge mountains, just like carving and boondocking. Any information is appreciated.
Thanks Alot!!!

Saratoga

We just stayed in Saratoga this past weekend and we really enjoyed the Inn and the hot mineral pools before and after riding. We trailered up to the snowies one day and to the sierras the next. The sierras were getting good snow when we left Sunday and there was good depth and powder under the new snow. Takes about a half an hour or so to trailer to the top at either mtn range ,dont try to ride from town. Hope any of that helps. We had a good ride,if the snowies get some fresh snow you should be able to find everything you want

Rendezvous Loge

You should look into The Rendezvous Loge. Then have good cab's the best food, full bar, gas, and rentals if needed. The oners are the best. You can jump on your shed right out your door. 1-888-326-8998 I have stayed there a toun of times and it is all ways unsurpassed.

Saratoga is a nice little town. The Inn would be fine (although I think it's called the Resort now--new owners). Depends on where you're coming from though. If you're coming from the east, I would save the miles and just go to the Laramie/Centennial side. That will save you hours driving around on I-80. You can even stay in Laramie and it's only about 30-45 minutes up to the parking area from Laramie if you can't find a place to stay in Centennial. It's about 10 minutes up from Centennial. If you're coming from the west, Saratoga is closer. You can easily get to the Saratoga side of the mountain from the Centennial side. Or vice versa. You just stay on the main trail (the highway) until you get to the other side, and then head off the trail from there. There are some nice meadows up north off of the N trail to play in. Check out this website for trail maps: http://wyotrails.state.wy.us/Maps/index.asp . You can get an idea of where Saratoga and Centennial are from that.

Thanks alot for all the replies!!! I will be coming from the East (Minnesota). So Centennial would be a far less drive than Saratoga?? Any suggestions on where to stay in Centennial?? Would prefer to stay closer to the trails than Laramie. Actually, I would prefer to ride right from the place we are staying instead of trailering. However, trailering would not be horrible. Thanks again for the replies. Please let me know of any good places to stay in Centennial and if it would be worth the drive to Saratoga. Thanks Again!!!!!

Old Corral in Centennial is where we usually stay. Nice rooms. Now they reopened their diner. Otherwise there are a couple other places to eat in town. 10 minute trailor up the road to the trailhead. Parking lot fills up fast on the weekends.

Theplaceat10mile.com... Nice cabins great food cold beer and ride off your front porch.. It is about 20 miles outside of saratoga up toward the snow

The place is less than an hour and a half from laramie. so about the same distance by the time you get up to centennial. And lots less people makes it nice

Albany

You could stay south of Centennial in Albany, where you can ride right from the door. You would have to ride trails approx 20 miles to the top, but don't let that stop you from staying in Albany. It's a beautiful ride to the top.

Wow, so many options. So what area do you guys think is the best for riding?? Do any of the three (Saratoga, Cenetennial, or Albany) have good snow right now? Would prefer to stay at a nice place (preferably with watering hole/ bar). Would like a place not too extreme but with plenty of off-trail riding. So, what do you guys think?? For some reason I am leaning towards Saratoga. Maybe because of the one post that says there is fewer people. Let me know what you guys think!!! Thanks Alot!!!!

Albany sounds like the best option for distance , accommadations and your type of riding.

Here's the deal. The highway between Centennial and Saratoga is closed in the winter, and becomes a main sled trail. To get to Saratoga, you have to take I-80 out of Laramie to just about 20 miles short of Rawlins before you head south to Saratoga. That's why it looks on a map like Saratoga is closer than it really is. Like I mentioned before, you can get from Centennial to the Saratoga side to ride very easily. But, if you want fewer people feel free to drive the rest of the way around to Saratoga. There are two parking lots at that side--Chains End up top, and a lower parking lot a few miles down the hill.
Albany is actually a little further than Centennial because you take the same highway (Hwy 130) out of Laramie, but then about 5 miles before Centennial you cut off south to go to Albany and drive another 10 miles. It's nice down there too, but we always find more snow up top above Centennial. albanylodge.com is where you would go to find a place to stay.

The Old Corral is nice in Centennial. There are other cabins up there too, I think they're called Winter Creek. Probably have to trailer up to the top from there. Never stayed there but hear they're fine. Otherwise there are the Mountain Meadow cabins up on top that you can ride out of. Chris is the owner and he's a nice guy. You park at the parking area at the top, unload your sled and ride into the cabins.

Either Centennial or Albany or Saratoga would have a watering hole. Mountain Meadows would not.
