***Safeway #2 Diesel***

So... I'm a condescending a$$ and a D!ck? It sounds like the personal shots you feel you need to take are are simply showng that you are a sore loser and necessary on your part when someone points out that your statement isn't correct. Or maybe because another professional expert disagreed with your statement you're upset and feel the need to call people names. I thought name calling was done and over after my childhood. There are treatment options out there.

Exactly!!! I was pointing out filters were restricting from contamination long before bio-fuel was even thought of. Glad we agree!! But how is that a "nice spin"?

My question in my 2nd post and also asked in my 3rd post of this thread...
Is this not asking a question? I thought when a ? ended in a sentence that it was a question. Please elaborate how this was a "nice spin"

After exchanging a couple of PM's with DD, it seems I mis-read his intent and tone.

DD, I apologize for bashing...which was completely out of line.

And for those that leave unsigned rep...or worse sign w/someone else's username....GROW A SAC!!

All argument's set aside, I burn 60 to 70 gallon's of diesel A day and drive the same route. When burning low sulfer I get 6.3 mpg when burning 5%bio it drop's to 5mpg this was monitored over three month's. I burned bio for one month switched filter's burned ulsd for one month switched filter's and went and tested with ulsd and my mpg came back on the third month. This was all done during last summer so no winter blend's were used or any pour in additive's just strait out of the pump diesel.

biofuel

found my old thread that had my picture of a diesel fuel filter with gelled biofuel

http://www.snowest.com/forum/showthread.php?t=41096

I kinda think the specs for processing biofuel for road vehicles need to mature a bit more....plus the retailers are gonna have to update/clean up their diesel tank systems.

With the above said, a half dozen airlines have successfully tested the biofuel with both large manufacturers participation. Jet fuel (dino) is good to roughly -45F and the biofuel processed for the tests are supposed to be able to go another 5-10 degrees colder. Europe is tightening the regulatory squeeze on the airplane emissions and biofuel appears to be a leading candidate to clean that up.

I just wish the Shell/Safeway biodiesel blends were processed to higher specs.....but I think it will be a few years.

P B...you make a good point...never really thought about the effect of the Bio on the tank and pump systems at the station and in the delivery trucks. Years and years of buildup is now being released into the fuel.

As a side-note , I believe Safeway fuel IS ARCO fuel. I see the same delivery truck at both places. In addition , Safeway is always .03 cents higher but I believe they are taking the .03 discount into consideration for shopping there. This is in Bonney Lake. I have watched their pricing for the last 6 months and everyday it's the same thing.

.

Both of these statements are somewhat correct. Safeway fuel IS a cheaper, lower quality fuel. You get what you pay for!!It's like buying ARCO gas,it's just not as good as some of the others.

You're jsut happy that there is a pi$$ing match not directed at you!! :D :beer;

If there wasnt a little sarcasting, bashing in with the knowledge I wouldnt be as addicted to Snowest like I am. We all take ourselfs way to seriously at times....

Great post for both Modsledr and DiamondDave:beer;

Proof WA section of Snowest doesnt have to be centered around fordy and graverler expense to be entertaining....

shoot this post is entertaining and knowledgeable;)

I will give you a few more red dot's;) and claim them if it makes you fell better.....but not certain it will make my sac grow but I give it a world:confused:

Here's a little data for those interested:

crop . . . . Oil Yield Gallons/Acre
corn . . . . . . . 18
cotton. . . . . . 35
soybean. . . . . 48
mustard seed . 61
sunflower. . . . 102
rapeseed . . . . 127
Jatropha . . . . 202
Oil Palm .. .. . . 635
Algae . . . . . . 10,000*

Rapeseed is known as canola. Jatropha is a common weed plant growing near the equator. Algae is grown between vertical membrane sheets (plastic sheets), sewage water is pumped/sprayed on, and carbon dioxide from a factory smoke stack is plumbed in to promote growth. The algae system works in small laboratories....trying to size it up to commercial scale size has been problematic. The algae either doesn't grow or it grows too fast to process. Note the algae also processes the sewage water and smoke stack fumes.

That is why i purchase lots of fuel filters and add additives to my diesel fuel. this has been a very entertaining thread though......were DD and Modsledr sent to thier rooms for a time out?

click the link I posted above in thread 47 - there's picutres there

speaking of pictures...get rid of your self portrait nose picking/eating picture....its disgusting

I was thinking in lines of Diamonddave and Modsledr in time-out!!!

kinda like my youngest here, the king of time outs!!!

kick him, he is laying down.....lol

And doesnt bio also induce microbial growth that will also plugs filters including fuel delivery system? Now I do understand this takes time to happend so it only effects if you rig are stored in longer periods of time

I have heard this to be true also.

Dont' the fuel stations have filters to catch the crap in there tanks before it gets to our vehicles?

Yes the stations have filters.....question is: how good are they?

Have you ever heard of people filling their vehicle - gas or diesel - and getting a load of crappy watery fuel?
