***Safeway #2 Diesel***

Thank Gregwhore!!

JFYI, 3 weeks ago got a crap tank of fuel from the Shell in N.B across the street from Ken's. Had to change fuel filter (only had 4,000 miles on replacement) when I got home and after running the tank out, runnability and starting problems are now gone. 5% BIO on that pump.

Scott's fuel pump went on his dodge, after the mechinics (the guys in Snohomish) changed it out, they claim its a good chance the poor quality diesel was to blame.

Last gazzilon gallons to go thru Scotts truck was from Safeway in Duvall.

Could very well be BS, but I find it rather funny....between him and all his freinds that live out there and which put way more miles on their rigs them him never had an issue (they all refuse to fuel at safeway)....

I personally fuel at the closet location, cheaper $$$ is always nice....but its hard to complain lately after the prices we wore paying this summer????

No problems yet but I did see they are adding 5% Bio to it.
They have been adding 5% biodiesel for a while now.... nothing new. Ive been running this fuel through my powerstroke for a long time with no problems and the motor is extremely modified with aftermarket motor parts.

fyi

Sometimes the bio will gel in cold temps if it hasn't been treated. The "city" I work for went through some problems with it during the cold spell...they run B20 & B40. Didn't have any problems with the treated stuff.

You there,
Not all Safeways have the B5, only a few of them. But the Safeway in south hill is always the cheapest I can find. it was 1.93 gal last time I filled up. there is a warning on the pumps that have the B5 for Chevy trucks only, I guess there fuel filters can't handle the B5. I have a powerstroke 7.3 and can run anything. I make my own fuel when I can get the oil, it's 100% oil and runs great, it does have some other stuff in it but not much. it's almost not worth the trouble making it anymore.

I filled up with the 5% Safeway fuel back in December on the west side, Drove to the cabin in Easton and had the fuel gel up, it was unusually cold that weekend and I had to have the truck and enclosed trailer towed home...After sitting in heated garage all night it started up the next day,
I haven't filled up with it again.

Sometimes they get more than 5% bio in the fuel. The bio is so clean it will clog your fuel filter with all the crap it cleans out of your fuel system fast. Sunset chev had a brand new duramax towed in with cloged fuel filter (1000) miles. Safeway in graham. More than 5% in there tanks.

hard on filters

TOOK THE DODGE OUT TO THE POWER SHOP IN ENUMCLAW ,THEY STRONGLY SUGGEST NOT USING SAFEWAY DIESEL,HARD ON FILTERS POOR LUBRICATION,HIGH E.G.T.S,ITS HARD TO PASS UP THE SAVINGS,BUT ARE YOU REALLY SAVING???? TIME WILL TELL:confused:

If you do your own filter changes on a regular basis you will notice how dirty the safeway fuel is. Most of us won't run cheap gas in our $10,000 sled so why run cheap fuel in our $40,000 truck??

FYI...It is not dirty fuel, it is the solvent effect of the bio-diesel in the fuel system, causing all the existing chit in the system to free up and get into the filters.
