Running RICH HELP

ok so went for a ride the other day, found that i used almost 1 lt...right to around where the supply line comes off for the cross shat for just over 1/2 tank of fuel. Was home at that pint so didnt notice if the oil useage went back to normal or not after that.

Could that supply line have a leak in it?? BUt with that amount of oil leaking would i see it all over?? I do see black oil dripping onto the throttle bodies from the y pipe.

So i guess i ask now what to do? Are there any other tests to try? Do i try replacing that line to make sure that isnt leaking first? Can that line be re-routed with a different line around the engine??

If i need to do the centre seals, can someone give me an idea of what i can looking at repair wise? should i be thinking of getting rid of this sled?

oh ya after getting a new fuel cap...gas tank is still leaking...grrrr

That supply line goes from the bottle, behind the engine, between the cylinders to the front of the engine, and goes into a brass 90deg. fitting on the case just above the oil pump.
Yes these lines are known to leak... the brass fitting on the case can leak, or come right out of the case if loose enough. It's just a light press fit. I would suspect you would notice the oil dripping out of your bulkhead if this is the case.

On the other hand, if it is your center seals. The crankshaft will have to come out and be worked on by a good crank shop. The seals are one piece design, so the crank must be dis-assembled to replace them.

Here is the brass fitting outlined in red, and you can also sorta see the silicone I applied, as well as the cheap hold-down bracket I attached to on of the reed bolts to hold the fitting in place. This fitting walked it's way right out on me a few times before I fixed it like this.

UPDATE

ok so have been riding it the last week and adjusted the oil....seems like it was just out of adjustment, i leaned it out abit and the oil didnt dissapear like it did the first time......so maybe the center seals are good after alll......:cheer2:

i will be watching it carefully and adjusting it to get it to 50:1 currently at about 40 (or one tank of fuel ) to 1 litre of oil...thanks everyone

Got mine running yesterday with the oil pump spring mod and the FBF cable and even with a pint of oil in the tank it still smokes less than it did before. I'm sure the pump was sticking open on mine.
