ok so went for a ride the other day, found that i used almost 1 lt...right to around where the supply line comes off for the cross shat for just over 1/2 tank of fuel. Was home at that pint so didnt notice if the oil useage went back to normal or not after that.
Could that supply line have a leak in it?? BUt with that amount of oil leaking would i see it all over?? I do see black oil dripping onto the throttle bodies from the y pipe.
So i guess i ask now what to do? Are there any other tests to try? Do i try replacing that line to make sure that isnt leaking first? Can that line be re-routed with a different line around the engine??
If i need to do the centre seals, can someone give me an idea of what i can looking at repair wise? should i be thinking of getting rid of this sled?
oh ya after getting a new fuel cap...gas tank is still leaking...grrrr
That supply line goes from the bottle, behind the engine, between the cylinders to the front of the engine, and goes into a brass 90deg. fitting on the case just above the oil pump.
Yes these lines are known to leak... the brass fitting on the case can leak, or come right out of the case if loose enough. It's just a light press fit. I would suspect you would notice the oil dripping out of your bulkhead if this is the case.
On the other hand, if it is your center seals. The crankshaft will have to come out and be worked on by a good crank shop. The seals are one piece design, so the crank must be dis-assembled to replace them.
