Running Boards

Hi all, looking for some in put on which replacement running boards work better. I have a Yamaha Apex. What works better, SnowEliminators or Better Boards. Thanks

the better boards seem to be more popular, and have not heard about any bad service from Rob, hoping i got some extra funds to get a set myself.

I would do the better boards if not for just service alone. I have snow eliminators and they seem to be a good product but had REALLY bad customer service. Next set will be better boards. Infact, when I was having issues, Rob at F-bomb actually tried to help me. Now that's a stand up guy.

I put better boards on mine just a couple months ago, man they fit nice. And they are easy to put on, you don't have to drop the coolers, i didn't. I cut out windows instead of cutting out the majority of the existing running board.

Get a rivet gun too, a lot easier than doing it manually.

Try Ratseld.com he 's building me some new running boards for my RX-1.He also makes a insert like better boards.Really nice stuff

Yes I would be very interested, I want a complete kit with edge coolers just like the RAT Sled/ Brandt Motorsports version except less money. He wants 700.00 shipped for a set of boards with edge coolers...I'd pay 400.00 plus shipping but 700.00 is rediculous for boards.
If you can make them similar to his and sell them for less you'll sell a ton as a lot of guys like them but won't spend that much on just boards. If you can do this with edge cooler extrusions like Fabcraft sells or Polaris I'd order them now. Let me know....have you done any Yamaha's?

OOOOW I like these

There is another option out there now. We offer the WRP running boards.

$178 shipped in lower 48.

Nice I really like these....why doesn't anyone go back a little farther with the boards? I stand with my feet right above the drop brackets most of the time, about 3" behind where the better boards/Snow Eliminators and these WRP boards stop? This is where I need the best footing....these are really nice though! Here is another option:

Scroll down and look at the blue version...these will bolt onto the Apex just like the RX-1, cut the existing running board from the cooler over and bolt these on leaving the stock running board behind the kick up......a bit of work but a solid design with a kick up and good grip on the edge. (the stock edge that always ices up). Cheers.....

Ratsled will build you a set like that.I got him building me a set for my rx-1. They are only 450 bucks and nice stuff.I'll take some pictures when I get them

Really?

WELL....I talked to Steve at Rat Sled and he said 600.00 plus shipping just for the running boards! His web site states 475.00 Canadian for the boards and rear tunnel extension as a bolt on kit. So when he stated 900.00 for both or 600.00 for just the boards I was a little confused and a bit upset that the price was increased so much unexpectedly.......needless to say I didn't buy his ****! Either fix the advertised price or be consistent ...don't sell some for that much and others for more! When I talked to him last fall it was 700.00 ish for both powder coated black...now it seems they've grown in value tremendously! If you get a set of boards for 450.00 with edge coolers this is fair! I would pay this but not 600.00 that's simply a rip off! Let us know how it works out for you and the end price.
OH and with the Apex having the radiator I think a non boosted sled can get by with no rear cooler as long as you ride in good snow and not hard packed conditions.....you don't think this would work?

That is not with the edge coolers.I,m leaving the stock coolers.I don,t want to ever have a cooling problem. So I,m just going with the running boards with the kick-up in the back. I would not try and run it with just the edge cooler. That rad is pretty small.I know on the Apex the running board coolers are bigger then the RX-1, however the RX-1 used to have cooling issues in low snow condions.I,m pretty sure the RX-1 will have more cooling area. then a apex with the running board extrusions
