ROX Flex Tec II Handguards for Pro Taper

Photo's Showing Alignment Issues

Couple photo's showing that the hand guards could be vertically rasied about 1" but the clamp for the cross brace interferes.

hand guard mount

I am hoping that Rox's or Sled Solutions reads these post and act on the issue of the guards being mounted to low. After waiting for a long time to get them and also paying around $179 for a set of hand guards; they would send us a one inch higher piece to mount the hand guards to the mounting hardware.
Thanks

I was really pushing ROX to make these. That being said I have been in contact many times with Chris and Ryan while this was being completed.

I emailed Chris and he said that in the shop they had mounted them above the cross bar. I am at the office so I have not been able to do this and see how it is.

I did forward him this post so he is aware of what the riders are saying about the product.

I am happy that they made something to fit these bars!!

What do you do with the shut off switch that rests right on top the brace connection?

Even there instructions show putting the mounts below the cross bar

And I would give the included photo 8.5 x 11" instructions sheet a D. Can barely make out the photo's. Kind of had to visualize/trial how the two pieces went together at the andlebar to figure the sequence out due to the odd angles.

I still need to attach the large piece of velcro to the inside of the guard. You are supposed to do that at room temp. but I had already installed the hardware in the garage and wasn't about to take it off again.

I used blue loctite as I know handlebars are prone to vibration, especially at idle.

Fitment

No way on the brake side, the bracket wouldn't fit between ,master cylinder and the bars and as I mentioned earlier, the stop switch is in the way on the throttle side.

They need to redesign that small piece to raise the hand grips up about 1-1/2" or so.

Newsflash...you can put the killswitch anywhere you want.
Of course, you can't move the break cylinder.

I agree. Be nice to see these mounts fixed. Would be simple to do now before they sell a ton of them. Just need to replace the little part that bolts to the billet mount.

Rox Pro Taper mount

Hey all,

I am listening. Here is what I did. Under the X-bar. If you swing up the mounts it does raise the hand guard as well. If you try the top side the right side works well but the left hand may have a problem with the Brk Res. We will do what we can to make improvements as we go.

If I might add, it is important to make sure you have installed the right plastic backbone on the correct side. This will have an effect on where the handguards actually end up. If you installed the wrong one on the wrong side the guards seem to sit a little low. The shape should have the part that sticks out the most on the top. Don't ask me how I know this.....LOL:D

So i had some time today to fiddle with the sled. Moved the mounts for the handguards ABOVE the cross brace and they are alot better. It was a tight fit but they do fit. I even have my stock bars cut 1" narrower then stock so my controls are all pushed in 1/2" more to the center as well so putting the mounts above the bar should be even easier on stock length bars

I looked closely at mine this weekend and the plastic looks symmetrical on mine so it doesn't matter which wide you put them on.

I will again attempt to put them above the cross braces next weekend.

Maybe if I loosen the brake and slide it to the left I can get the mount in and started.

I saw on another post someone moved their stop switch below the cross brace. I'll try that as well because I'll be mounting a tether soon.

How do these work with the Mid-height Matte Black windshield, do they hit at full lock?
