What do you guys think of Ron Paul?

He has some really good ideas and stance on issues, and are similar to my views on many things.

I really like his stance that people should be in control of their bodies, period.

His foreign policy is great too, but a little isolationist in my point of view, but then again, he knows way more about it then I do. I like his embrace of the "blow back" we constantly receive from meddling in other countries and how we look at short term goals that create long term problems.

I don't know...

What do you guys think? What don't you like about him? Just curious as he seems to be the only republican that actually is trying to live by republican values.

Yet he opposes all aspects of Pro-Choice. He believes a woman should not have control over her fertility and the choice to continue or terminate a pregnancy.

While that is his PERSONAL belief, he has said that he would make a law stating that it isn't a federal govt issue, but a states rights issues. The FED should not have that control.

This is the thing that I like about Ron Paul. He has a personal view, but he isn't trying to have the federal govt. force it.

I agree with the state thing just question his public statements: Paul calls himself "strongly pro-life" and "an unshakable foe of abortion."

I guess my point is so what. Why should we care what his personal moral beliefs are? Shouldn't we only care about his stance on issues pertaining to his role as a possible president and his stance on the federal government and its role over our lives? Isn't this more important?

He has stated that it is not the federal govt role to decide this issue. It is the states. Therefore his personal beliefs about the issue should only matter when it comes to what his stated decides to do.

I can respect the fact that he and I don't agree on the abortion issue, but more importantly is the fact that we both agree that it is not something that the federal government should be in control of.

Mold,

So is this the only thing you don't like about him?

Yes it is my friend!

His views are just too radical to be president.....in a Perot sort of way. Even if his views are accurate, there are just too many voters that don't agree or see him as a nutjob.
I agree govt has no place in things like abortion....or healthcare etc... that's all personal choice for the woman AND the Dr.

I'm no expert on his views, but just what I've heard I agree with 95% of it....but things like pulling out of all wars is quite extreme.
Here's a quick copy/paste on some of his other views.....I'm not saying they are right or wrong, just quite radical for someone to gather enough votes to become president.
