Rode the 800 Dragon and XP 800 yesterday!!!

lmao
this started out as a good thread... maybe we can make it that way again

i own both sleds...

i find that through the trees in the powder, my polaris is much easier to carve and side hill, though i do believe the front tends to "dive" a little more, but IMO thats due to retarded shoxs...

climbing hills the xp set up shines (im not talking power wise)

i will take the xp on the trail in/out 10 times out of 10.

4 belts on the xp in 220 miles. 1 on the polaris (turbo) in 260 miles.

I personally think the polaris shocks suck. I am still waiting on zero pros in the rear and floats in the front.

its a tuff decision on which sled wins stock. Polaris crappy shox vs ski doo belt eating monster... if i had to choose just 1 it would be...

This ones for SLICK...................My XP is the greatest sled in the world. It will kill a Dragon. Not even close. I won't even mention Yamaha and Arctic Cat; it's not fair to compare them to the mighty XP. Ski Doo's rule. Plain and simple. I even have Ski Doo underwear and one of my daughters fishes is called DOO. How's that SLICK? BTW, my XP has 154 miles on the same belt. It is however, in the shop getting the S-module replaced! I got your back VE:D

wow look another cocky doo owner .. wait till he gets to the hills wont be long till hes dragged back.

Anyone ridden the 700 RMK with the coil shocks? Just wondering how that one handles.

I'm still not sold on air shocks for a Mtn sled.

It's not the standard coil shocks, but my ZeroPro front shocks valved by Carls are a dramatic improvement over the Walkers. They make the IQ front end a perfect match for the EZ-Ryde. Before the Zeros, the EZ would way out-shine the front end in the bumps and in terms of cornering performance on the trail. Haven't had the Zeros in the powder yet, but the tendency to dive on hard-pack is gone so I'd assume the same could be said for in the pow.

Are ZeroPro's adjustable on the fly?? I'm really torn between these two sleds for next year. I'm on an 06 Rev 800/151 and it has been ultra reliable and tons of low maintenence fun (not a single trip to the dealer) and really hope for the same on my next sled.

Zero pros are a coil-over IFP shock. They're not clickers, but they have adjustable spring preload just by twisting the spring collar. Carl's uses a two stage piston that works extremely well. I hammered lots of big bumps this past weekend and took lots of corners at high speed. The sled was completely predictable and handling was razor sharp. With the Zero Pros up front, I forgot I was riding a 155 unless the trail was really really twisty.

I'm glad you like it. Like I said, I applaud what Doo is TRYING to do. But its important for all the manufacturers to know that we want quality and we know they can produce it. If we willingly accept substandard underdeveloped sleds, they'll never have to offer any thing better and we'll keep licking it up. Like the Doo clutches, christ after this many misses, get your poop together Doo. That sucks.
My grandson thinks his Yamaha Ovation is king of the world, and you couldn't convince him otherwise so I guess its all in your perspective.;)
The underwear thing, thats kinda weird, but good on ya.
The s-module, you better practice fixing that,,,,, the motor-- its a Doo 800, nuff said.
And I'm an XP fan, but you might be getting some surprises from the D8 guys, pretty together sled.

Slick. The dragons are blowing belts too, just look on the 4m if thats what you believe. I know of 9 or 10 xp's and only 2 belts going on all of them.

Like any sled you have to do a couple of set up changes like clutching and gearing. Once this is done you'll have no belt problems. I have 300 hard miles on mine and my belt still looks new.

I don't know of ANY sled company that you just assemble the sled and ride it, and it runs perfect, Especially poo!

For a totally new design the doo has very few problems. Remember the rmk 900's totally new design??? You can't give those things away now!

Whats a set of good shocks worth for the dragon??? After paying $14,400 for the dragon and then having to spend $1500 for a set of ohlins, Once again i'll ride the doo.

BTW- If polaris 800's are so great why do they make the wide bearing kit??? 'Cause they dont have engine troubles, right?

Chaz

Saw three D8's run this weekend. They impressed the heck outta me. I ride a 600 HO with the 797, I think I had more power but they seemed to keep going. They floated better than mine but it might have been the new track, if the XP runs close or better it should be a great match up.

Hey Chazzer, I ain't blowing any of their horns. Same $hit,, different pile in my mind.. We'll soon see what the issues the D8 will have, and I'm sure there will be some. My point was we already know Doo clutches suck and their 800 engine is unreliable as hell, but yeah the rest have issues also. I got involved in this thread because it bugs me when anyone goes on and on about the virtues of a sled obviously plaqued with bugs and bashes another sled with maybe less, maybe more.

Thanks trinitypowder............Slick,re-read my post,I didn't bash the Dragon at all,I went out of my way not to,I just said maybe a little more seat time was needed by the guy tryin the XP.The Revs have always takin more time to get used to.Peace man,I agree BRP needs to get it together, that being said I do like my sled .

LMFAO! You really have a fish named doo?

Yup. Had another one named Ski. Guess what? He died! Tell me that isn't ironic. I guess it's just a matter of time before old Doo buys the farm too! I also gave a comparison on here about my XP and a D8, Slick. Guess what? It didn't out perform my XP154. Nor did he wait for me to change belts. Nor did he tow me out. I like the D8 alot. It looks good, performs good, should hold up good too, but I hate the way it feels to ME. It feels like Oprah looks now days; better, newer, and not as big as the old Oprah, but still too big.:beer;

Guy's, Guy's, Hold up! 'PERSONAL PREFRANCE' 'PERSONAL EXPERIANCE'
That's what it boils down to. I have owned everything but an AC, my preference is the D7/8 in my opinion it’s the best 'Polaris' maybe not the best 'sled'. I have a hard time with the far forward ride of the Skidoo's, (just don't feel comfortable) but I am sure if I rode one for an extended period of time my comfort level would probably change. The D8 has some imperfections, as I’m sure so does the XP. but if all the manufacturers made a 'PERFECT' sled there would be allot of aftermarket guy's out of business, not to mention there would not be anything to buy next year (look forward to) we would all keep our sleds forever.....

I agree slick......Just read alot of stuff on here that MIGHT be true. If you believe and listen to every post you read, you'd go nuts! I know I would....:face-icon-small-con

Trinitypower!!! That is the best fugging coparo i've heard!!! Oprah and the D8 LMFAO :D

Let me help you out here Phatty.... shocks are for the trail, belts (ie-clutching) are critical for powder and climbing.... hmmmm

Great reviews guys!!! No gum flappin' or that $hit.

5star I feel the same as you about the dragon too, but my xp has yet to have a belt failure. Mind you, i only have 250 miles but i'm 250+, with gear on and the miles aren't nice ones.

Thanks for the replies!

Chaz

So much for the no gum flappin;)

Fair enuff, good luck to both owners, XP and Dragons.
Hope your kids fish lives a long and happy life.
Sorry can't say I know much about Oprah, big or little.

Were you beating the XP down the trail or up the hill in the snow? Just curious? I rode with 2 XP's in 5' deep bottomless sh!t and they impressed me. I just barely broke 100mls on my D8 163 but I just don't know if it will climb with the XP 16?X16. Plus Im fat:( I smoked the XP down the trail though. Must be geared WAY lower.....

BTW the 2 XPs ran flawlessly all day. I see lots of guys complaining about them....Only thing I didn't like is the handle bars hit me in the nuts when I turn....Ill keep the Dragon:)

All good fun, eh guys?;). Now then, i'm riding Saturday, if anyone wants to go with, that would be swell. Who knows, I may need a tow:beer; The best thing about living in a free country, is doing what you want. So load 'em up, pull the rope, and ride(or walk if it's a Doo:eek:)
