Rock Island Arms vs Glock 20SF

I'm curious if any of you own or shoot a Rock island 1911 and what's your thoughts on it? I was looking at a Glock 20 and this one got brought out also, I'm not a big fan of the 1911 but the Rock Island felt very well. To compare I have a XD and a CZ in .40. I like the way the XD shoots better, that's why I was leaning towards the Glock. Not sure what to think after looking at the Rock Island. This will be in a 10MM also. Thanks for your input.

I have had my RIA 1911 for about 6 years now. Quite a few rounds through it mostly just goofing off shooting, nothing fancy. Only problem I ever had with it was that the mag that came with it sucked, got a really nice mag, reduced my failure to feed issue to non existent. Solid gun, always performs and the price was right, i got mine for $425 with some ammo. Does really well considering it spends a lot of time floating around in the truck outside of the case and getting very dusty.

I haven't got to fondle a RI yet..but I carry a G20sf everyday.. extremely plain...boring ,typical glock...but it is extremely accurate, reliable and a blast to shoot...and I don't leave home without it.......

The Glock is a very forgiving gun and will take any abuse you throw at it. I have had a Glock for a duty weapon since 1991. The first one I had for 7 years, second for 13 years and my new one for a little over a year. Mine only gets cleaned twice a year after qualification shoots and only recently have been detailed cleaned by dept. armorer on a yearly basis. Mine is worn every working day and is exposed to snow, lake water, dirt and sand. Never had a problem except for a hard triggle pull due to excess dirt in the trigger mechanism. I used to carry my Glock in a holser outside my riding gear during snowmobile patrol and some days found my Glock so froze up I could not rack the slide (but it would always shoot). After switching to Klim gear I now wear it crossdraw fashion under my coat for snowmobile patrol. I had once got into a fight with a DUI subpect in the lake waist deep. The Glock survived fine, the radio didnt.
