They messed with the wrong people!
I was very fortunate to be able to spend the day with my friends Roger and Donna.
When I pulled into the drive yesterday morning, emotions ran high. I couldn't believe what I was seeing, Donna with a substantial injury to her head and Roger the same. I stood in complete disbelief that someone could do this to them.
Roger's original post is very modest and although serious, his story on this thread does not depict the decisions that had to be made for this type of outcome. This story could have easily and most commonly been so much worse. But for those of you who are fortunate enough to know my friend Roger, know that he is a man that is willing to make decisions and that is what he did!
As Roger explained and as you may have seen on the link to King 5 News Seattle, The Robber walked in the Master Bedroom with a flashlight tapped to a hand gun and a bat in the other, while ordering them to the floor. Roger hesitated and made a comment of this being some kind of joke, and blam, the Robber hits Roger over the back with the bat. Husband and wife get out of the bed and are across the room as the Robber continues to screem "get on the floor".
Roger goes down toward the floor, but on his way down makes the decision to fight back. Little did the robber know, ordering Roger to the floor was a big mistake as Roger settled into a three point stance. Just then the robber threw a back pack down in front of Roger and as the attention shifted to the pack, Roger unloaded and drove the Robber back into and through the opposing wall, the fight was on. Donna, while being punched repeatedly, managed to get the bat and started swinging. After several of these episodes the Robber finally quits fighting. Roger and Donna hog tied the Robber with belts from the closet and called 911.
Later, officers that responded, told Roger and Donna that the back pack contained Zip ties and Duct tape.
King 5 reports the Robber as being 6'1' and 175lbs, however the true story is that he was about 6' and at least 275/300lbs....
The crime seen (bedroom) is covered with blood and obvious signs of a tremendous battle. My jaw about hit the floor when I went into the room.
I am very thankfull that Roger and Donna are still here to tell their story as my wife and I have really appeciated their freindship and truly care for their well being.
As some of you may know, this was my first year riding (rookierdr) and an eventfull one it has been. I met Roger just a few short months ago while riding with another friend, we exchanged numbers and soon after I was his wing man (well, one of them). Being a new rider, Roger took the time to teach me and watch after me, as he would also do for anyone else. I have seen this man repeatedly give of his time and his talent for many riders in need as Roger is always the first one to step up to the plate and say "I'll help".
Many times W8TN4U has gotten some heat on this forum due to a small lack of ability to articulate a politically correct post (he says what he thinks).
Make no mistake, W8TN4U aint waitin for anybody! When the chips are down this is the guy that I want on my side! How many 48 year old men do you know that would have taken on a 275/300lb 24yr old Robber at gun point? AND WON! (yes, I know Donna swung the bat) but it was Roger that made the decision to fight for their lives.
Roger, I'm sorry your wing man was not there when you needed him, but as usual, you had things under control...
Cheers to you and Donna (one tough lady), we're proud to be your friends.
