Robber broke into my house with gun and bat

I sure hope that your self defense case turns out better than mine did. I ended up charged with felony aggravated battery. Still fighting it, I'm sure that it will get tossed but not before I have to pay a lawyer over $10,000 and spend Memorial day weekend in the Greybar Hotel. Good going but pray he doesn't sue you.

WTF!!!!! A guy breaks into YOUR house, you kick the chet outta him and he sues you???? Guess if someone breaks into your house you better make sure you kill him. Is that what this country is coming too....can't leave any witnesses even if your not in the wrong???

Good to know I guess....gonna be hard to explain why he was brutally beaten AND shot.

Absolutely nice.

But, as mentioned above the coroner should have been involved. A sheriff told me (back in 1988 during some small talk) if someone gets in your house and there is a scuffle like this - to minimize your exposure to legal issues, the burgler is best left dead.

Haven't you ever heard of the burglar who fell though a sky light and landed on the kitchen counter and impaled himself on some steak knives. He sued the homeowner for his injuries and won. I have heard of this urban legend story, but don't know if it's true or not...

we did take pic's but can't post them here

If we would have killed him we wouldn't know how put him up to it

if you want to here the story, pm me with your phone number and i'll call you back. May take a day or two to respond my phone has been ringing off the hook.

snowmobiling defintley helped me, I had ahold of his wrists like I was on a out of control sled and when in dought "pin it" . It was full throotle for ten minutes. I remember looking down at my arms and seeing the forearm pump

Thanks for all the support, you guys are like a "cross my heart bra":)

I think that's one of the "Stella Awards" which are all false. The first time I read those I was so friggin pizzed I couldn't see straight. Like the lady who slipped and fell on water that was spilled on the floor, sued the restaurant and won. Only, it was her that threw the water at her husband/boyfriend only minutes earlier...:D

Congrats though on beating his a$$! My feeling is you are entitled to all of your rights, until you impede someones elses rights (to be safe in their home). Then you lose ALL of your rights! Keep it simple stupid!

They messed with the wrong people!

I was very fortunate to be able to spend the day with my friends Roger and Donna.

When I pulled into the drive yesterday morning, emotions ran high. I couldn't believe what I was seeing, Donna with a substantial injury to her head and Roger the same. I stood in complete disbelief that someone could do this to them.

Roger's original post is very modest and although serious, his story on this thread does not depict the decisions that had to be made for this type of outcome. This story could have easily and most commonly been so much worse. But for those of you who are fortunate enough to know my friend Roger, know that he is a man that is willing to make decisions and that is what he did!

As Roger explained and as you may have seen on the link to King 5 News Seattle, The Robber walked in the Master Bedroom with a flashlight tapped to a hand gun and a bat in the other, while ordering them to the floor. Roger hesitated and made a comment of this being some kind of joke, and blam, the Robber hits Roger over the back with the bat. Husband and wife get out of the bed and are across the room as the Robber continues to screem "get on the floor".

Roger goes down toward the floor, but on his way down makes the decision to fight back. Little did the robber know, ordering Roger to the floor was a big mistake as Roger settled into a three point stance. Just then the robber threw a back pack down in front of Roger and as the attention shifted to the pack, Roger unloaded and drove the Robber back into and through the opposing wall, the fight was on. Donna, while being punched repeatedly, managed to get the bat and started swinging. After several of these episodes the Robber finally quits fighting. Roger and Donna hog tied the Robber with belts from the closet and called 911.

Later, officers that responded, told Roger and Donna that the back pack contained Zip ties and Duct tape.

King 5 reports the Robber as being 6'1' and 175lbs, however the true story is that he was about 6' and at least 275/300lbs....

The crime seen (bedroom) is covered with blood and obvious signs of a tremendous battle. My jaw about hit the floor when I went into the room.

I am very thankfull that Roger and Donna are still here to tell their story as my wife and I have really appeciated their freindship and truly care for their well being.

As some of you may know, this was my first year riding (rookierdr) and an eventfull one it has been. I met Roger just a few short months ago while riding with another friend, we exchanged numbers and soon after I was his wing man (well, one of them). Being a new rider, Roger took the time to teach me and watch after me, as he would also do for anyone else. I have seen this man repeatedly give of his time and his talent for many riders in need as Roger is always the first one to step up to the plate and say "I'll help".

Many times W8TN4U has gotten some heat on this forum due to a small lack of ability to articulate a politically correct post (he says what he thinks). Make no mistake, W8TN4U aint waitin for anybody! When the chips are down this is the guy that I want on my side! How many 48 year old men do you know that would have taken on a 275/300lb 24yr old Robber at gun point? AND WON! (yes, I know Donna swung the bat) but it was Roger that made the decision to fight for their lives.

Roger, I'm sorry your wing man was not there when you needed him, but as usual, you had things under control...:D

:beer;:beer; Cheers to you and Donna (one tough lady), we're proud to be your friends.

I was real curiuos about the specifics of the story. Thanks for the insight. He took a chance and won. You just never know what freaks have in store for you so you almost have to take that chance every time while you still have a chance. Not an easy decision. Great to hear it turned out good.

Just remember the key phrase, I was scared for my life, and I felt my life and my wife's life was in danger. I had no time to think, I just reacted.

He's lucky his gun didn't go off during the scuffle, right next to his temple.

Get a dog, one that goes nuts when someone walks up to the door. Help you sleep.

Good on you Roger and Donna. Although it has been said many times it's people like you that give me hope for this country. Had you not done what you did it could have been a sad day for us here. Cheers and good luck in the future.
