Rmsha

I have always wanted to hillclimb competitively.......its on my bucket list you could say. I am not looking to do it in the immediate future, but want to sometime for sure.
So short of putting up my own sled, money, insurance, etc. Are there any others thoughts, knowledge, etc. you could give me on a good way to get into competeing??:)

Can you afford to be gone from Thurs. to Monday just about every week during the winter? Fuel bills can be big and you also need lodging every weekend unless you have LQ in your trailer, or a motorhome. Can you afford to stock up on parts so you have them WHEN you wreck? If you answered yes to these, then you might be able to do it. There is plenty more that will take your money, but these seem to be the biggest. Takes lots of money and lots of time. I have some friends that run RMSHA and they are always gone.

I agree with all of those and have come to that conclusion in reading and researching. There is just such a huge barrier to entry:(

I wonder how long it takes of riding and proving before you get any sponsorships to help out in those depts. I know some of those guys have to have fuel, sleds, parts, etc. thrown at them after a while.

I have invested enough in Klim ;-) I think I'll stick with that. Maybe one year I'll just have to try a race as a temporary just to get it out of my system. I may not be a zinged about it as I am thinking.

Most if not all of the events have an amiture level that you can try out. You do not have to compete every week. To even have a chance you have to go after the hill like you do not care about your equiptment. The crap you will have to hit and go over will make you cry if your sled is your baby.

I have ran a couple times in Pocatello, Soda Springs, and Preston. I ran my spare sled so I could still ride mine after.

Sid Zollinger and his boys fab shop (Zbroz racing) are across the street from me. You want to talk about sponsors. About a month ago the Artic Cat truck dropped like 18 sleds off in his yard for him and his boys race team. During the RMSHA season he has sleds all over the yard loading up the semi and race trailer for the next race.

Beaver Mtn hillclimb has a fun locals class that I have run in the past two years.

It's fun but you wait around all day to ride for 2 minutes, not for me I wait all week to ride all day not for 1 run up the Mountain
