RMK lite

TRS

Do you have any engine work done or a pipe on it to flow more air that you will have available from the 38's?

Oil pump is gone, run 32/1 premix. BRP isoflex sealed bearings on the PTO end. Dropped the squish to .055".
'03 VE fuel pump.
Built the engine to carb adapters from billet aluminium and used BRP rubber boots. Modded/plastic welded the stock air box to fit the carb boots. Carb to air box boots from 2007 IQ 600HO. Fit and finish looks stock.
Using the stock 2009 550 pipe with an HPS can. I am going to try a larger ID stinger.
Rode it myself in 24-30" of snow today. To the pin all day and no problems, ran 6900-7100 rpm all day. Will do the 38 mod to the other 550 as well.
The 38s make it start a lot easier than the 34s and is more responsive.
Rode with E-tec's, Pro's and IQ Dragons all day. I'm not going to tell you it will stay with these sleds, but you can sew your way up the hill, and you can get there. Track poaching also helps. These little sleds will make you a better rider. They will show you where your riding technique needs improvement. You need to finesse your way, not just point and shoot.

If only I had the time and money I would build stuff like this all the time! Love it. I applaud you good sir:face-icon-small-coo

And I plan on riding the gf's Pro 600 for that reason, I know it will make me a better rider in certain situations.

Any end of season reports on the 550 RMK's?

Doing a fleet evaluation and wonder if I might need to go this route for the kid(s).

I've really liked ours. It's too big for my seven year old to be able to handle, but for spring time riding I've enjoyed riding it as much as my pro. I wasn't happy with the cv-tech clutch so I put a p-85 on it. I'm not sure it was worth the effort though.

Cool sleds, little tractors they are!

Just wanna ask about the 88hp 440 tho.....
For 3 years, we raced fancooled sleds, '99-'01 and not one of the 2 available(Arctic-Cat or Polaris. Doo had a production Fan but not a race-spec sled) made more than 60hp stock. And my little sister kept racing the fanners for 2 years after that. I can assure you the newer Polaris never had 30hp more than what we ran previously.

I do have a 440 Suzuki that makes close to 80-85hp(wishful thinking would say 90hp) now in a bit of a mtn sled,(only a 141x2.25 CE) but it is far from stock and living on the edge. I've often thought about swapping it for the 570 and boring that out, but I haven't needed to punish that little sled anymore than it already gets.
But hey, if a 440 gets 88hp stock, lemme know where to find one, cuz that means I can get another 10hp out of it easy. Aaen 440 and 550 fan motors run on ice barely touch the 90-100hp mark, and they are full mod engines w twin pipes. So if someone has overlooked a stock Polaris 440 I'd be mighty interested in buying one.

Back on topic tho, I've been thinking more and more about a Pro chassis for my next build. Maybe what I need is to build another fan cooled sled to go bag on instead of another high HP mod sled.....hmmm
I think you guys are onto something....be awesome to have in the arsenal like this!

Reeb,
I'll pm you. Yes it dyno'd 88hp. It was not on my Dyno. He would lap the field. It went through teardown inspection every weekend.

Ok so any "random, off the assembly line" 440 fan is still running in the 50hp range. Does anyone know why Polaris detuned the 550 to be in the same ballpark? Our 440's ran 56hp at the turn of the Century. Why are 550 fans doing the same? is it a "HP classification" that OEM's have given the fan-cooled sleds now?
I'd really like to try this now knowing that the potential for easy HP is at our fingertips with these motors. An 80hp fan is not out of the question.
Someone was running a big bore 570 Cat a while ago? I think it was a Cat, might have been Doo's 550f. This should be explored more....awesome!

Don't forget about the Phazer engine and flat slides from the Bender camp back then.

Comes with Yamaha primary too!!!

That's going to be my retirement sled lol with the chassis I have or a roller if the deal shows up before. Already have the 800 dollar running Phazer in the shed.

Pro C3ed with Phazer motor, aluminum 35 liter fuel celled tank on a straight carbon fiber tunnel. 141 Camo 2", TS EVO 3 suspenders.

Should be a fun sled for gramps to run around on when fuel get's to $2.50 a liter lol.

What about the 540 cc fan cooled Yamaha motor out of an XL-V or ute? I rode one that ripped despite only having one carb. Thought it might have more torque than the 485 cc Phazer.
