RMK 900 Oil Leak...

Good job guys! I forgot about the water pump seals....
The water pump does have two seals.... 1 for water, the other for oil. The empty cavity between the seals is where the "weep hole" or "tell tale hole" comes from. It appears that you will have to pull the engine to replace those seals.

yea. if you do find that it is the oil seal behind the water pump, there is a how to on the forum somewhere on how to install the new water pump seal its a little bit of a PITA(mechanical seal), and even though the book says you can reuse it... i basically had to destroy mine trying to get it out.

i hate to be the bear of bad news but i think your going to have to pull the engine, there is no oil hoses/fittings back there its the last place i would expect to find oil coming from, if it is your internal oil seal you still have to pull the motor regardless.like what dktraw said don't rotate motor in the front rubber mounts, some guys rotate the front mount cross member but i just pull the entire motor.

Thanks for the help guys... I think this theory makes most sense and all the things I have seen to date fit the explanation.

Now to figure out how to pull the engine and see if I can get into the area... I am heading Bison hunting for 10 days and wont get to this till I get back, but I'll post letting you all know what I find when I get back.

Thanks again to a great group of helpful guys.

The problem was exactly as we thought. I pulled the motor and brought it into the shop to have them replace the seal (since I didn't have the tool) Sure enough the inner seal was shot. Thanks Again for help in diagnosing it.

I do have an unrelated issue now, at least I thing it is unrealted (I'll post a new thread about that one)

Thanks for the good news, I hate when threads like this are left open ended lol.
Glad to hear you got this one fixed!
