RKT Drop in Kit on a 06 800 rev

Darrin:
My Doo dealer won't do any unauthorized remaping because of liablity reasons. Where did you send yours?

you have to send it to the ski doo race department. Just tell them what you have and they will do the rest. It's cheaper than sending it to RKT.

how much pin wieght are you running? I have DJ's clutch kit and running a 160/350 spring and at 7000 feet in ran great with 17 grams in clicker 6, at 9000 feet I couldn't pull the rpm's. still pulls, but not as nice. Thinking of removing wieght to empty pins which I believe is 14 grams.

Skidoo rider - did you notice a difference with the reprogram? How much time? Can you send info. Thanks

I'm also running 400 mains and middle needle clip.

I am also looking at the 827 kit from rk tek for my 06. I am very happy with the performance of my stock sled but would like to get a little extra. What other mods work well with this kit....other than the obvious clutching.....are guys changing reeds? y pipe? exhaust can that works with the 827? I had heard that the powertec engine didn't need any changes to the ecu? A little first hand knowledge would be great!

Mine is pulling 8500 on clicker 4 with 16 grams of weight. 415 ramps not sure of spring, kit is from DJ. 10,000 feet

you should check your plugs you don't need the needle raise
I never did ride it stock I just sent it to the ski doo race department, and told them what i had, and they sent it back to me.

Tom Lawrence 715-848-4971 number to ski doo race department.

I talked to Kelsey & Tom on the reprograming of the ECM for 06 .Tom can put in a program, but it is in the defalt setting witch makes it useless because there is no way to make the sled use it. Kelsey said not to remap the 06 for that reason. Just to inform those like me who were going to send it in to Ski-Doo Racing .:(

Thanks for the input. I was waiting for the new guy at ski doo race department to get the remap machine as I was told Tom is no longer is doing it.

I still can't get my sled to run 8500 RPM. I now have empty pins and I can go higher in elevation, but I only hit 8300. Kit pulls better then stock, but I would like to figure out the clutching so it is sweet all the time.

I have called RK Tec like 8 times and can not even leave a message as mail box is full.

I talked to Tom yesterday and he would have done the remap because he was not aware it didn't work . I informed him Kelsey's findings ,he was unaware of the issue.
Mine works great 8500 no problem was only going to do it to get any hidden potential out of it.
goforbroke; Im suprized with empty pins you are not getting rpms. You could go to stiffer spring but there must be something else not right. Have you checked plugs are you lean enouf.

Hard pack it will pull the rpms, but in the soft stuff I'll only hit 8300 and then back off from there. It may be a clutch issue, but I was at 17 grams of pin weight and dropping to 14 grams or empty pins has made little to no difference. I'm running 400 mains and needle in stock position. That is why I wonder if it is an MPEM issue and retarding the timing as less pin wieght has had no noticable difference. Plugs are looking lean to me, and no I'm not going to check the wash. Would like to get sled dialed in as I'll likely buy a new one and would love for this to be a screaming back up.

I have an 06. So I guess ECM. Rode this weekend at 8500 feet. would pull about 8300 and would slowly climb to 8500 on packed snow. In the powder would pull 8300 and back down to 8100. Lots of powder!!!!! Was very similar to a stock sled in performance. running 160/350 primary spring with empty pins (14.5 grams I believe) clicker 6, 400 mains, needle in stock position. A very fun sled, but I hoped it would woop up on a stock 800. Plugs are whitish to light brown. leaner than any sled I have ridden. 300 miles on kit. Any suggestions?

i cant say much for riders under 10000 feet but if you guys keep running your sleds at over 8200 rpms at the crank it'll be only a short matter of time till you snap it. call russ at 2mile high skidoo in leadville colorado he'll tell you the same. theres something about it up here, they cant take it. just my 2 cents on the matter. oh by the way if you bought a new kit from kelsey this year, send him back your rings and tell him you want the good ones, they are breaking and are a total liability to your sled. jet his kit according to your own idea of ideal piston wash, dont read the plug its far too inaccurate to do that. his kits doo rip but this 07 08 kit is sketchy. he change manufacturers.

Guy's not sure why your sled won't pull, but i have the same thing only i did was send the ecm to skidoo for update for this engine. I know there saying it don't work, but just ask the guys i ride with. this sled will pull 16 grams at 10,000 feet at 8500 rpm Clicker 4. There's not a XP or XRS that will keep up with it. I'm also turning a 162 track with this motor.

When did you get your kit? Mine was purchased this year with the new piston maker. I will contact Tom and see if I can't pay for some overnight shipping.

Thanks

Let us know if there is any difference after remapp. Skidoo Rider did his all at one time so no comparison on befor and after remapp. Thanks Nick

Spoke with Kelsey today. Seems there are some ring issues so he is sending me some new rings/pistons. I'll hold off on ECM till this is done and see if there is improved performance.
