Rk tek ordering problems

The problem here isn't that the product is bad, on back order or that it's the busy season. The problem is a seemingly complete lack of customer service. If I ordered something, was told it would take two weeks, and four weeks and four detailed voicemails for information later, I still hadn't received a call back, I'd take my business elsewhere.

it does not mater how many detailed voice mails you leave. if wosner can't provide the piston, kelsy can't deliver them to you. the reason he hasn't charged your card is because he doesn't have the part. at this point he's in the same boat as you. he doesn't have the ability to manufacture the pistons himself. complaining will simply do no good.it's a bummer but that's the way things go some times.

So the best way to handle customer inqueries for backorderd parts is to ignore all requests for updates and information AFTER the order was taken. Seems like a good way to drive away customers. Rk tek should have been upfront with him and at least should have taken 3 minutes out of the last month to call and give him an update.

I understand that you are frustrated and the forums offer you the ability to reach out.

RK Tec has a good rep and customer service from my experience... I've had quite a few Doo kits from him and he always delivered.

Call him back in the AM mountain time.... best time for all business.

plain and simple, sure business could be busy but we are always too but You Alway have to keep in contact with your customers period.. and let them know whats goin on espicailly if they are spending alot of there hard earned money to put in the businesses pocket, quality customer contact is Key to customer service wait to long and go somewhere else that will serv you the way it should be done. If we didn`t contact our customers at the shop I work at there would be no work in the parkin lot and alot of ticked off customers standing at the door in early mornings or all day taking there stuff to plenty other shops doing the same thing, please don`t blow up on me or bash but be in business for a good number of years and you will actually relate.

Happy customers will tell there friends and families etc, displeased, mad customers will Tell Everyone!! which is harder on Reputation??

would rather have to spend a few good days contacting customer than be overwhelmed with a ton of messages from curious madd customer not a good work of mouth especially when most business is done thru sites like this when we can`t be showing up at someones business front door with the same concerns. so it easier to be left waiting, I`m sure its more than just a 1 man show.

Good Luck.

I ordered pistons last season. Recieved them in couple days.

If he had the parts, they would be on the way.

I agree, a phonecall would be good, but if he doesn't know when the pistons are coming, then its hard to call people and say i dont know.

Note to dudes - if you want/need delivery way before snow, order in July/August, at the latest. I am sure RKT doesn't have an endless supply of Wossner's on the self for your selected kit, and his order leadtimes are dictated by his vendor, too. I ordered a kit in July 2012, and because of a vendor ring issue that was not Kelsey's fault, didn't have the complete kit in my hands till that October. RKT stood completely behind the ring problem, but, chit happens with vendors. These guys are crushed this time of year. Can't speak to Kelsey's response time - sometimes it's immediate, sometimes there are gaps, but if you provide reasonable leadtime, it's not a problem. Have reasonable expectations.

I understand Bikeman is in the same Boat, Waiting on Pistons From Woosner, Their lead time as of this past Saturday was 3 weeks, but they called a buddy who ordered one of their Durability kits last week.

As stated above Kelsey is waiting on the pistons to come in from Wossner, he uses nothing but the best and they come from Germany, good parts are worth the wait. Also as stated above in the first post he has not charged you yet for the parts, a lot of other business i deal with charge you as soon as you place the order even if the parts are back ordered... Kelsey is a small operation that pumps out some of the best products in the industry hence why its hard to keep everything in stock. When i talked to him early last week he was hoping to get the pistons in Friday and start shipping kits this week. His back log is HUGE right now due to the late delivery date on pistons. If your going to call him in the next couple days leave messages as he will be swamped shipping out orders.

Not to take money out of anyones pocket, but Ive got a Drop In kit I will be selling out of my 2013.

I was very happy with the setup.

Comes with pistons, head, and domes...750miles...should be good for awhile...$450 shipped to lower 48.

Also have my entire clutch package to go along with it from MDS...Weight, both springs, and helix...$250

I decided to do a RKT 858.

PM if interested

Keep us posted on how the 858 set up works , I may hide some money from my wife this winter for a spring overhaul instead of a fix it. HP junkie....

Will do, I know some updates were done last year that may have improved the overall performance.

Vohk will be doing the install and tuning so I'm sure I will be a happy customer :face-icon-small-coo

glad to hear you were happy with your set up last year! I'm doing the same going with the 858 on my 14 this year. Put one together for a customer a few weeks ago and decided i have to do it as well:) going to have at least 4 of them on the snow here soon. Can't wait!

Be sure to give comparisons between the drop in kit and the 858 since you guys have run them both!

I will have a
2013 with the high compression drop in kit and slp pipe combo,
2013 with just the drop in kit and fuel controller
in my riding group this year
and my 2014 with the 858 kit all with 156 x3's and very similar clutching

so should be able to get some pretty good comparisons between the three and will report back

What head comp ratio are you running and a what elevation? I was looking at running a 14-1 at 6000 to 9000 ft on straight avgas or a mixture of Prem/ avgas if that would work.

thanks

too busy to answer the phone or return voicemails? sorry but that is just plain poor customer service. no excuse. i would take my business elsewhere. what are you gonna do later when you have a problem and aren't riding for weeks because you can't get ahold of anyone? if you give someone a delivery date and can't deliver the LEAST you could do is call your customer and let them know. thats how a professional business is run! if you are so swamped you can't keep up you either stop taking orders or you hire more people.

I talked to Rk tek yesterday and yes, it took me several calls to get a voice, I was ordering the replacement pistons and he said his best guess was 3 weeks to get them to me. Well that does suck but he was very apologetic and knew i was disappointed but said he was doing his best to send out his orders in the order he got them and hoped I understood, and could wait as he felt i would be very happy once i received them. Basically I took away from the short conversation that he is way overwhelmed with business and felt bad that he could not provide me with a better answer at this time. I agree he needs to contact people but i also know how it is sometimes when you have way more to do than you can get done. Do i put my head to he grind stone and just start pouring out as much as i can to try and take care of customers or do i stop production and make a bunch of call when the only think I can add is sorry its going to be a bit longer. I hate that cause neither one is fun. I am going to try and be patient even though that isn't one of my better quality and hope it is closer to 3 weeks than 5.
