River Valley Dutchmen Race

I think you guy's should just come and try it, I would be willing to buy you beer at the end of the day if you don't have a good time. Believe me over the years there have been very few complaints about this race, it is just a fun event to be at.:D
D

Ok I'm in as long as it not -20 out will see you guys a week from saturday I will be in a red ford superduty and on a turbo m7. One more question do you have to have a snowflap mine got ripped of and i have not put it back on

Read my post again -- you could run in the open trophy AND the open cash class the way it is set up now. Remember the jumps - probably hard pack this year with the snow conditions as of now. As mentioned by another mountain sled rider -- mountain sleds do not like the jumps that much. We would love to have you and I can't create a better picture of the hill than I have so far. Riders have come and been dissapointed byt the size of the hill - others have enjoyed the whole experience so you can take it from there. Ask all the questions you want I will try to answer when I have time. This is a local fun event - yes it is competitive but the racers have to accept the classes and the conditions. JAK

OK yes you need a snowflap - I think if everyone thinks about what they would expect a sled to have to safe - fun and pretty fair that would cover it. As my post above says time permitting 3 or more sleds we may create a class with the winner getting entry fee back. I know we have some 4 stroke turbos coming - so maybe just a turbo class? Remember this is for fun so who knows. Of course there will be serious racers there and we expect that - its just that the new racers should come and experience it and see what happens I guess. JAK

Hey Big D race meeting Thursday night at the club building Dawg is grilling out and the beer will be cold. We are going over registration procedures and practicing scoring runs. Also making sure the race trailer is ready to rock. I'll be at the cylce meeting tonight - if garage lights are on tonight when I get home Beer? JAK

Jak, Will try and make it out there tomorrow nite have to work till 8.
Later D
Looks like maybe some snow next week!!!!

say i got a 600 mod, and a 440 snopro, what kind of classes can i run in? Is this gaurenteed to still be on? I am up in alexandria for college, and the snow is getting thin.

There is a race meeting tonite not sure if I am going to go out there but I would guess that as long as we don't lose anymore snow things will be fine. We have a big area that we plow up onto the hill have made it work with a lot less snow.
Later Darren

Insurance does require 18 and over and we do check ID's sorry. But the classes are trophy 500,600,700,800 and open. Cash class 500, 600 stock 600 mod, 700,800 and open. Legend's 40 and over no mods please. Womens must be a women "duh" all legal sleds. Vintage Liquid, single, air/fan and cheaters.
Again trophy is trail sleds -reed and can upgrades allowed only --until open of course. Cash class is basically and improbved stock class. -- 600 stock is going to allow 500 improved stock and 600 stockers (08"s).

OK everyone this is a summary of classes - Race day class expanations take precedence. REally just come we will get a class figured out for you -- this isn't X games you know. However i did personally take a third place trophy in th elegends class a coupel years ago -- then pomptly retired.

Whoops there is always a chance we have to cancel but right now the Valley is full of snow to scrape - plus we haul snow and we are going to one of these years buy a snow gun. If you ask anyone who knows this club -- we'll buy one too. In fact we are looking at a Zamboni to help with our radar runs right now. This club - once they put their mind to it gets it done. This year we will scrape and haul snow so plan on it happening!!! Heck we had 25 people at the race meeting tonight. JAK

So i got a 2006 sno-pro 440, all stock besides trail converted and i have a JAWS can on it. Do i have to run that in the 600 class? If the new 600 race sleds can run in the same class as my 440 i stand no chance.

OK if you are a trail converted race sled it must be DNR registered to race in trail class. I was asked the other day why do the trail converted race sleds have to be registered but the true trail sleds do not. My answer - because that is what the rules say. So lets say you are not registered with your trail converted race sled -- You will then race in the cash class. The 600's will not be allowed to race in the 500 class but the 440's will. So there you go. Of course you can bump up a class and see what you can do. Keep in mind almost everyone will have a base class they can be competitve in. JAK

Big D - answer questions for a while -- We are heading out to race WPSA Snocross this weekend - then I am off to relocate a store. Big D call my cell phone leave a message and I will call you back if you need help answering. Or else walk over to Dan and Mel's She has a copy of rules registration etc at her place . Over and Out. River Valley Dutchman race

Just wondering on all of the race classes if they will be separted into say for example :sport 500, semi-pro 500, and pro 500 like sno-x or are they gonna all be combined to just one 500 race class? Would be nice for everyone to run at a level field for experience if possible. Please let me know and thanx much. Looking forward to the race, thanx for all of your work putting it on, we need more races like this!!!

For right now i believe the race class will be determined by the size of sled you are riding. Like Jak has said it will be open to options the more people that we have show -up and right now I am guessing we are going to have a great turn out. I have got the 77 pantera ready!!Well sorta it started in the barn a few weeks ago, oh wait that was a couple of months ago should be good and ready to race. Hope to see everyone there!!!

That sounds like a plan, thanx. Just was thinking that it would be tough for some guys in the race classes that do not have as much experience racing ya know. For example ,it would be tough for a beginner or sport caliber rider on a 440 racing against a pro calaber rider on a 440 even if they have the same sled is what I am trying to say. Hope that makes sense?

It doesn't sound like the hill will be very technical or scary, so as long as a novice racer isn't afraid to pin it they should be fine. What will win races is good reaction time at the line and a good sled setup.

Don't forget, all of us who are racers were beginners once too! Ya gotta start somewhere. If you show up and tell someone you are new to this I'm sure they will help you out. Racers are generally very friendly and willing to show a new person the ropes.

Ripperd you are exactly right this is a great race to gain experience without having to pay a butt load of money to do it.
