Riser Height - How High Can I Go???

I have a 1998 Formula 500 and I was trying to find out how tall of a riser i can install before i need to start extending wires & cables? I hope someone can help me out so I don't end up going down the trial and error road and ending up with a bunch of extra parts. Thanks

Only a couple inches at best. Take your bars off, and hold them up, that will show you how high. You can not go that high on stock S-chassis sterring stem though. It is to weak. I used to bend my stem alot. I had to cut the stem apart, and put in a solid center rod, and reweld back together to gain enough strength for 12" rise.

i was albe to put a 5 inch riser with the stock bars on my 97 formula. you have to cut some zip ties to make the cables have a bit more slack. i used pivot risers and havent bend my steering stem.
