ripped a carbide off. replace both or just 1? dont even notice it gone...

ok, apparently I ripped a carbide off the yeti ski... a yeti ski falling apart and breaking, who woulda thought?!

the right side somehow got ripped off, and the tip of the ski is cracked.

I barely notice the carbide missing... whys that?

should I replace just the missing one? both outside ones? or all 3? the center one seems good still.

side note: where the carbide ripped off the ski, it left a side piece of plastic hanging off.... it made an amazing ice scraper/snow thrower onto my motor and motor only. none came in my face.... almost gets a guy thinking of making two on the ski to shoot snow on each side of my constantly super warm running motor.

I dunno guys. Been riding half the winter now with my right side carbide ripped off. I’ve ridden everywhere from packed ice trails to deep pow and don’t notice it missing one bit.... what’s with that???

Didn't you also break the spindle on that same ski?

That was ages ago. That was my very very first ride back in November. And second ride too it broke. I have since upgraded that Center blade to a steel blade and with more meat and it’s been bulletproof ever since. Got nearly 15 rides on it so far whereas the carbon fibre pieces were breaking every ride... 2 rides:2 broken pieces.

Not sure when/where this carbide got ripped off. Looks like it took a serious grabbing because it ripped the bolts right out of the ski. Everything else seems to be fine and I havnt changed it because I literally don’t notice it one bit and I’ve tried experimenting knowing that I’m missing a carbide in the back of my mind... feels the exact same left and right. Ice or not. Maybe I’m not leaning/pushing it enough and still riding the center slag.

Got 5+ rides without this carbide and hasn’t bit me yet. Kinda interesting.

Another thing I noticed on the yeti ski... the outside carbides are roughly 10” long and there’s two holes for them at the Center and rear of the ski to mount them. Well if you look on the front of the yeti ski, there is a tab area which would/could accommodate a third carbide mount at the front... allowing you to run something like a 16” carbide so you got carbide on the front half of the ski too not just from the Center point back. Kinda interesting.

I lost mine last week as well. I'm gonna replace it. Takes a fair amount of lean to leave the center carbide but when you do on an icy trail you will be glad it's there.

makes sense. ive got spares on hand too but was experimenting and seeing what changes without it...... nothing really.

either way, ill throw the new one on if the stripped bolt holes will accept it... would suck if they didnt.
