Riding in Duchesne?

I'm headed into the Ashley National Forest tomorrow morning to cut a christmas tree down and do some riding. Since I'll be getting a permit for the Ashley forest, I'm wondering if there's any good riding around there, that's still in the Ashley boundaries (have to cut the tree within there). I'm having a hard time finding the boundaries or any trail complexes around there that service the Ashley part, not Wasatch national forest, so any help would be greatly appreciated... Also, is there enough snow in that area to ride? And, is hwy 35 still passable so I can go over Wolf Creek pass from SLC or will I have to go on hwy 40 (I know the gates are closed now, but the ranger said you can get around them, it's just up to you if you get stuck)? Thanks for any input!

I'm not very familiar with that area as I've only ridden Wolf Creek a couple times since I've lived in Utah, but Strawberry Reservior is right there too.

not sure what the snow is looking like over there right now though.

You can get good access to some fun riding up Phelps or Rhoades canyon from the Hanna side of wolf creek pass, if the gate is not closed you can park at either locations on the side of the road. Both areas are within Ashley (barley) and provide great trees for cutting and great riding.

If your coming from SLC ride from Noblettes (Woodland) over wolf creek pass on hwy 35 to get there....Ashley forest ends once you get to the ridge on the east side of soapstone.
